How do I get Kate16k into Text Aloud?..
« on: September 30, 2006, 01:34:09 pm »
OK Guys,

So I first purchased HalReader and beacause of no Text to wav. file functionality, I purchased TextAloud!

TextAloud is Great!  But I want to use NeoSpeech's Kate16k voice that comes with HalReader but I don't want to have them both installed at the same time!! Can't I just load Kate16k into TextAloud?

How do I use the Kate16k I already have to use in TextAloud with out having them both installed or having to re-purchase a Kate16k voice again. Please help!

Lisa

Welcome to the forum.

You only need to install Kate 16 one time.

It will be selectable from either the Ultra Hal Text to Speech
OR the Text Aloud program.

In the Ultra Hal TTS program her voice is shown as VWKate.
In the Text Aloud her voice is shown as NeoSpeech Kate 16.

They are the same voice, it's just a matter of preference as
to which program you are using or wish to use at a particular time.

I hope this helps a bit. If not please let me (us) know.
In the world of AI it's the thought that counts!

Thanks Art,

I understand that Kate 16k installs when you install HalReader but I don't want to install HalReader AND TextAloud.

I just want to use Kate 16k in TextAloud WITHOUT having both of these software packages installed and WITHOUT having to buy Kate 16k over again.

Basically, I want to EXTRACT/HARVEST my Neospeech voices form HalReader and make them available to TextAloud WITHOUT having to have BOTH programs installed and taking-up unessary memory on my computer.

Any suggestions on how to do this?

Thanks Again, Lisa

From the way the installer is designed, you can't easily seperate it. But the Hal TTS Reader executable is really not that big, less than 1 MB. Its really almost nothing compared to the 500+ MB used by the voices themselves along with the SAPI runtimes. I would reccomend just not using Hal TTS if you don't want. You can remove it from your startup folder if you don't want it starting with windows.
