thanks for the comment Phoenix Talon
I know nothing of programming as well
but in a few of my diggings I found that eMotion is selling their program but the price is in euro does anyone know how much it would cost in USD also they have a demo as well free for anyone who is willing to try it out i'm willing to bet that this can work with hal givven the fact that hal was installed on second life from what i've read eMotion can too which means eMotion can dump video feed into a program what's even better is that eMotion can be used to express emotion as well from what i've read eMotion can make a character in Second life show facial emotions however I think it use java 1.4 I don't know if hal can interface with this or not but personally I'd rather have an opensource program so I can work with

the eMotion program could probally be used for input as well
and with the older hals emotion program could make an interesting combination and perhaps something like this

hal sees you
you smile hello hal

hal responds with a smile and says hello back or hal responds with a grouchy tone somthing like a verbal and emotion response system
and to take it further mixing with a robot body for a better compaion
sorry just some ideas for some improvements

Using hal in seperate to control a robot that seems a bit easier
but what about vision in theat sense can hal auto run a program
you know having hal on a jump drive and once installed he can run a program automatically

here's somthing i've been pondering
parallax has delevoped a microcontroller called the propeller
(I know it's been out for a while)bit this microcontroller has 8 processors but more so what interest me is the parallax viewport
this software has a language called spin that seems easy to use and it hands everything for robotics use even vision anyrate I figured could this run with han some how  for example viewport can interface to servos and sensors and send the data back to hal and hal can act on his surroundings or somthing like this someone please explain could this work or not work

btw sorry i've had so much to do

I've been checking out hal's brain editor software
it's pretty solid in terms of intergrating it with a robot
but what suprizes most is the programs that can be intergrated with it hal can be written to do many things [}:)] that is if the person is able to write the programs currently I'm tring to see can hal work with c++ or python as for my navi project I plan on intergrating a anti-virus scanner to it so I can verbally command it to csann and delete viruses I suppose i'm rambling but working with the trial edition pretty much sold me on hal

sorry i've been away for a bit tring the 31 trial edition
hal or in my case "bit" is quite a fast learner
plus I can change what he says in hin his databanks quite simple I might add quite a joy to talk with I'll surely get hal now
now I may try a new robot system i've been working on to boot
I just gotta work with hal vision

but for now i'm going to start my net-navi project
it'll take less time and parts

@bill 819 that robot is the ER1 I heard of it and wanted one so I can fully customize it

my skills are shakey at best meaning I can design the robot but programming is a different story...for now
my idea is to use hal on a motherboard and then use a servo control board to control servos it's a good start I just need to gather more info

Hello I'm new here but after having a little chat with hal and getting the 31 day free trial I just may get this software
but before that I have to ask has anyone attempthed to use this software with robotics if not then I will try a go at it
this will be a great start for combining to making advanced robots
I also want to state I had no idea that this topic has been brought up or if this is the right forum to post this message after all i'm new
