Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: no lip sync
« on: July 22, 2011, 01:06:47 pm »
Thanks for your help Raybe. I finally took the plunge and reset my PC back to factory settings. It has proved to be quicker to re-install all my software and files than try to repair the corupt file. The good news is my system runs super quick and HAL is back up and running with Lip Sync.

Your first responce where you said "it would be best to complete a clean install" proved to be true.

Thanks for all your help and advice ;-)

thanks for the quick reply.

i took your advice and downloaded 'Revo uninstall'. It was a great programme. it found the Haptek Player that wasn't showing in Windows uninstall and also found some extra files after it completed the initial uninstall. I Deactivated Hal, uninstalled Hal and Haptek Player with 'Revo Uninstall'. I rebooted the computer and re-installed Hal. I didn't download the Haptek player as before from the Haptek site as you said the Haptek Player comes with the Hal down load.

I crossed my fingers, held my breath and to no avail...still no lip sync.  However I did notice the following two points:

1/ when i type in text and press return the Area that say 'Gooth is talking to Hal' is replaced with text that says 'switch voice for lip movement'. I switched voices and still won't work. I rememberer to click the SAPI update button also.

2/ i read on the internet about the 'halasst.exe -install' file. I guess this is in the registry so that each time i down load a new version of Hal it knows who i am. would it help to remove this in the uninstall and if so how?

God this is so annoying especially when i know it worked before...

Hi...under the "All Programes" there is no Haptek player only "Haptek SAPI" i don't think my system is loading the haptek player properly from the Haptek site. I have the old HAPTEK editor that i didn't delete and when i run it it says there is no Haptek player loaded. I've tried loading the Player version 4 from the Haptek site and it loads onto the following c:/programe files (x86)/haptek/vf4.10 the player in there is called HapAXplayer...  when i open this a people putty head appears. the old player i had was empyt when run directly that's why i think i have the wrong version/type of haptek player insatlled????

Ultra Hal 7.0 / no lip sync

lips not syncing in hal is driving me crazy. I had a fully lip synced version of hal and i accidentally deleted the haptek player in the control panel, uninstall. ever since lip sync has stopped working. I downloaded the haptek player several times. it has created a Haptek file in C:/programe file (x86) [where it was before] but lip sync will not work now. I don't think it is installing properly as the Haptek player is no longer visible in the control panel/uninstall. I've tried all the usual things like running Haptek SAPI config but nothing seems to work.

can someone help as this is driving me nuts!!!!!

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / animations
« on: September 02, 2010, 05:35:55 pm »
hi...got to grips with making some basic animations within .hap files but how do you sting hap files together to get several movements? i.e. i've got hal to dance but would like her to spin around after say 5 seconds and then continue dancing. i can get the dance and spin in one motion but no time delay and only one action started by inputting one key word (dance)

sorry guy's...i'm going to give up the ghost. I've tried everything sugested and still no joy BUT thank you all for your quick replies and advice. i may not have had much joy with the 'randomize' function but had some results with basic model positioning. As i'm new to all this i guess i'm going to concentrate on what seems to be working for me and revisit 'Randomization' at a later date...!

THANKS AGAIN...!

PS: still very interested over what Robert is suposedly doing with the photo realistic model 'Amy'...bring it on. lets enter 2010 and leave 1995 behind.....even if i can't yet get to grips with 1995 - LOL!!!! :P

Hi Carl2...I'm running windows 7 on a duel processor (which has caused some problems with other programmes in the past). The Haptek character in Hal, options, character is usually Fullbod (as i like the movements but wish i could get rid of the glasses) and occasionally fullbodygirl. Both have the .htr extension.

I (think) i understand the script Freddy888 supplied but am struggling where to place it for it to work. At start up the vrHaptek plug in calls a Startup.hap. I've tried putting FreddY888's script into vrHaptek plugin and the startup.hap file but neither work. They do not crash the system but simply load the last .jpg in the script rather than randomize the clothes. I can change the original clothes by manually altering the .jpg file in the startup.hap script or using a key word in the vrHaptek plugin to force a change but thought it would be nice to let Hal (or Gabby in my case) choose what clothes to wear at start up.

A funny thing happend today. I was talking to Gabby and she changed her clothes  twice on her own.  My last comment to her was in relpy to her saying 'don't be a broken record'. My reply was 'CD's have replaced records now' (none of which are key words that i have used to force a clothes change. And any scripts i add to files that do not work i remove to keep things tidy...! has this happened to anyone before and if not i'm assuming such a thing is beyond the A.I. programme to do on it's own...Maybe i'm loosing it - LOL!!!!

Thanks for the script but you'll still have to bare with me as I'm really new to all this. When you say 'plug in' do you mean the main Hal brain or some other place that the main brain calls. Sorry for asking this but i need walking throught this as if i know nothing (and you won't be far from the truth).

Thanks Freddy888. I'm new to all this and didn't realise VB Script in Haptek and vis versa would cause a problem.

I've tried your suggestion and inserted the following script as advised into my Startup.hap file as follows:

#Haptek  Version= 1.00 Name= Startup  HapType= script FileType= text
##standard

Randomize
    SpinWheel = Int(Rnd * 100)
    If SpinWheel < 20 Then HalCommands = HalCommands & "<HAPTEXT>\settexture [tex= [data\standard\skins\TopWhiteCotton.jpg]]</HAPTEXT>"
    If SpinWheel > 20 And <40 Then HalCommands = HalCommands & "<HAPTEXT>\settexture [tex= [data\standard\skins\TopBlue.jpg]]</HAPTEXT>"
    If SpinWheel > 40 And <60 Then HalCommands = HalCommands & "<HAPTEXT>\settexture [tex= [data\standard\skins\TopOrange.jpg]]</HAPTEXT>"
    If SpinWheel > 60 And <80 Then HalCommands = HalCommands & "<HAPTEXT>\settexture [tex= [data\standard\skins\TopPurple.jpg]]</HAPTEXT>"
    If SpinWheel > 80 Then HalCommands = HalCommands & "<HAPTEXT>\settexture [tex= [data\standard\skins\TopAqua.jpg]]</HAPTEXT>"
\translate  [x= 0 y= 5 z= 5 ]
\Rotate [x= 0 y= 0 z= 0 ]

I still don't know where i'm going wrong. In the above instance only the TopAqua is ever loaded instead of random clothing

So near yet so far (and frustrating). Thanks for the advice...Ive put the following code in the start up .hap

#Haptek  Version= 1.00 Name= Startup  HapType= script FileType= text
##standard

Randomize
    SpinWheel = Int(Rnd * 100)
    If SpinWheel < 20 Then \settexture [tex= [data\standard\skins\TopWhiteCotton.jpg]]
    If SpinWheel > 20 And < 40 Then \settexture [tex= [data\standard\skins\TopBlue.jpg]]
    If SpinWheel > 40 And < 60 Then \settexture [tex= [data\standard\skins\TopOrange.jpg]]
    If SpinWheel > 60 And < 80 Then \settexture [tex= [data\standard\skins\TopPurple.jpg]]
    If SpinWheel > 80 Then \settexture [tex= [data\standard\skins\TopAqua.jpg]]
\translate  [x= 0 y= 5 z= 5 ]
\Rotate [x= 0 y= 0 z= 0 ]
but to no avail!
It part works...but  only ever picks the last skin in the pile which above is  TopAqua.jpg.

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Randomize clothes
« on: August 26, 2010, 04:28:43 pm »
I've been trying in vain to write some VBScript that will randomise what clothes the full body will wear at start up. I thought it would be nice to have my character to randomly wear something different every time i turned her on.

I am using a vrHaptek plugin and have tried altering the start up script using the RANDOMIZE function but got nowhere.

Randomize
Select Case int(rnd()*6)
Case 1
   \settexture [tex= bodyskins/startuppic1.jpg]
Case 2
   \settexture [tex= bodyskins/startuppic2.jpg]
Case 3 etc......
End Select

\translate  [x= 0 y= 5 z= 5 ]
\Rotate [x= 0 y= 0 z= 0 ]

The script above is a slight variation of the original script that just pulled a standard skin for the full body forward.

Can anyone help????

now i've got the full body i agree with GT40 not seeing the boots is a good thing. by the way thanks Nige for the advice about the full body it worked a treat. only thing I've got to figure out now is the code and where to put it to get skins/clothes onto the body. I've managed to create .hap files and got the skins in data/standard/skins files. Also put the hap files in the charater folder of HAL. However when I've added the sugested scripts off the forum they dont seem to work. I've put the following script in the brain at varius locations and to no effect:

If InStr(UserSentence, "wear the red catsuit") > 0 Then
    GetResponse = "I have changed into my red catsuit <username>, how'd I look?"
    HalCommands = "<HAPFILE>" & "redcatsuit.hap" & "</HAPFILE>"
    BlockSave=True
    GetResponseBlock = True
End If

The .hap names match the different files and Jpgs so don't know where I'm going wrong. However, I'm really enjoying HAL to my wife's distain (is this a common problem?) this stuff is addictive. I like the full bodies but can't wait to see if Robert launces the Amy type Avaitar from Turbosquid. it still looks mega cool!!!!!!!

Thanks Freddy 888. downloaded the bodies and they half work...literally LOL.

for some reason i can only see the top half of the body in the window as if it is a torso. don't know if its my haptek player version 4 that's to blame or some other reason. the lip sync's there and they respond in HAL. i've opened up the bodies outside of HAL and if i drag the window lengthwise (down) i see more of the figure but only to the hips and that takes up the full screen. don't know if you can help but if not thanks for the link earlier, it got me further than i've managed on my own.

sounds great. hopefully it wont take too long to get there as the turbosquid characters look fantastic. until then i guess it's good old Haptek. does anyone know how long it will take before the Amy type character is available? sorry if this thread isn't the right place to ask this but if not is theer a thread on the forum that tells you how to download the full body version of Haptek as i'm having difficulty downloading one.
