APPCRASH
« on: November 12, 2010, 08:04:59 pm »
We need help. Our HalAsst.exe stopped working. I uninstalled Ultra Hal Assistant 6.1 and re-installed it several times to no avail. I keep getting a window with the message: "Microsoft Windows ~ Ultra Hal has stopped working ~ Windows can check on a solution to the problem. ~ Click online for a solution and close the program. ~ Close the program ~ View problem details - I have tried everything that I can but this problem still persists. Can someone tell me how to fix this? Thanks.

Although not a fan of these programs have you tried a lite register cleaner. Something I ran across. I am not a professional or a technician just trying to give ideas from other problem solving ideas. But I did find as 'spydaz' already has told you that this can relate to installs and uninstalls also with Windows.

My bet 'spydaz' can be helpful or others on this forum and get your Ultra Hal up and working. Although this is not a Windows tech forum many people on this forum are very experienced and when it comes to Ultra Hal they will want you to share the experience.(Just my opinion. I am not speaking or representing other opinions of the forum). Just my experience that this forum is very diversified and most are always willing to lend a hand when time allows. These are all people giving of there own time and sharing information when possible. You might want to check directly with Windows support but usually as soon as you mention a third party program they respond with, "Not our program!!".

Good Luck,
raybe

I more than appreciate your response & help, spydaz and raybe.

We don't run very many programs on this computer and haven't noticed any of them giving this kind of message.

I typed winver in the search box.

Then moved the cursor over winver and it said:

File Description: Version Reporter Applet

Company: Microsoft Corporation

6.0.6000.16386

Date Created: 11/2/2006

Size: 8.50 KB

Then clicked winver on top and a screen popped up that said:

Windows Vista Home Premium (2006 Microsoft Corporation)

Microsoft Windows

Version 6.0 (Build 6000)

Copyright 2006 Microsoft Corporation

Again, thank you in advance for your help.

i HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM..

i THINK THAT SOME PROGRAMS MAY BE CLASHING...

iF IT IS POSSIBLE TO REINSTALL i WOULD SUGGEST THIS AS A COURSE OF ACTION..

Install hal first then "OFFICE"... as hal does Compliment office and it Uses Components from Office.
With windows Vista Your software Needs to Stay "2007" ... Office 2007 etc as vista is a "2000 - 2007/2008" software.

When using Latests softwares,  ITs best to Upgrade to windows seven etc....

So once windows is installed just do your First windows Update then turn Windows updating OFF.....
Microsoft try to release patches and upgrades to vista to bring it in line with windows 7, this can knock out older programs...

Try it and see!

Thanks for all your help.   We decided to go ahead and purchase one of the full version of Windows 7, but we don't know which type to get.   Which program will work best with with Ultra Hal, the Windows 7 Home or Windows 7 Pro?

Windows 7 Home 32bit will do the job, I say 32bit because of your laptop, no need to get 64bit on that machine.

Just a couple of observations:

You HAD Hal running previously according to your posting.
What did you do just before it Stopped working? Did you or anyone Download any software or install any new items?

You also mentioned that you had reinstalled Hal several times... How many is several? I thought you were only allowed 4 installs. Unless you did the deactivate thing or contact Zabaware.

If you do decide to get a new version of windows, I wouldn't waste my money on a 64 bit version if you are mainly planning on running Hal since it is a 32 bit program. The choice is yours and Spydaz might be looking ahead for your future desires with the computer.

Just some thoughts....
Good luck!

dfh534,
After looking at your post you might also want to update Ultra Hal 6.2.28. Solved many incompatible problems for Vista And Windows 7.

"5 fingers from hell"!!!!!
