Laura simplifies the political process
« on: August 28, 2008, 06:26:00 pm »
What happens when a new president is elected?

Laura asks "Do you vote to change faces??"

1.If I did a lousy job, I would lose it, but yet a President can keep his job. Why?

2. Why is it politicians can lie and fool people into voting for them, and they are not charged with fraud?

3. A political promise is as useful as confederate money is now.

4. A political promise is a fancy word for "LIE".

5. you can buy a politician, and you cannot be charged with bribery. If you rename the bribe to "campaign contribution"

Yup, basically, GT40. For some strange reason, people root for a candidate (like one would root for a sports team) but when your "team" wins, they do nothing for the next 4 years.

The President cannot bring forth changes on his own, he has the have the cooperation of the senate, house, and congress.

The president has "some" power. But most of the promises he makes will not occur without cooperation, and the willingness to keep his word.

That would be like me being a manager at a McDonald's telling the employees I will get them a raise. I don't have that authority if the payroll comes from the company. My promise could not be fulfilled, unless I knew how to pull strings to make it happen.
