It's been a while since I saw any new skins for Hal, so here's a new one for the cause.

Here's a link to my guide on the fullbodygirl's settings,
with a body map that links to the parameters you need to use
to change the position of that body part.

It also includes some default cut&pastes to make creating HAPs that little bit easier.. hope it's useful to someone. Cheers.

A few people were trying to get that FigDef.hap change I posted working, but it's causing some confusion, so I did these .haps which you can just drag and drop like normal.

They make instant changes, so there's no amazing animation, but they'll be good for people who want to take some different screen shots for posting. There's two sitting poses and one to get her back up again.  Plus you can easily see in the hap file what you are changing if you want to adapt it.

Hope you like:

If on the other hand you want to play around with smooth animations then here's the edited switch script with all the RLTranslates removed - just replace the present crouchSwitch I described in the other post here:

http://www.zabaware.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2251&whichpage=3

with this new script:

NOTE:Once you've got it in place, the player will still be using the old version, so you'll need to empty the console and use 'herStartup.hap' (there'll be one in the hap_temp folder) to get her on screen again.  Once you close down the console all the changes will be lost so you might want to make a copy of your new FigDef to use again.

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / The new wigs are on me!
« on: June 05, 2005, 11:06:56 am »

============================================

At last I got them downloaded!  There's two new wigs here, I had to break up my filing a bit to download them.  The texure's home should be in the 'colourhair' folder, so that's where they need to go after you've downloaded.  I'll post more at some point too.

There's a couple of main HAP files that can be used for drop and drag.

I've put in a help page as I did have some trouble with the textures loading on my pc.  There's also some help/advice about making the texture files.

My juggling tricks managed to get the models smiling, always works a treat that.  Enjoy and let me know any problems!

Ultra Hal 7.0 / How to change hair colours (ie. yes you can!)
« on: May 29, 2005, 12:10:03 pm »
I don't think anyone has said about this yet, but I had a slight revelation over the hair, after seeing so many people asking about different wigs.

Basically the wigs are treated as objects in just the same way as the bodies.  So if you know how to change body textures then you just apply the same principle to the hair; except refer to the hair as the object being addressed....if you need more help about using commands then there's lot's of help elsewhere for sending commands and using .HAP files.

The Recipe

a) Make up a SEPERATE SKIN for the hair as you would do for a body skin (ie. a 512x512 or 1024x1024 square jpg) in photoshop or whatever.

b) Save your new hair jpg in the folder:C:\Program Files\Haptek\player\data\standard\skins\

c)If you're using the fullBod demo she will most likely be wearing the hair5_9EXP wig, the blonde one.

d)Next you need to apply your hair texture to the 'WIG FIGURE' with this command by using a HAP file or the Console. The command 'paints' your jpeg onto the wig:

\settexture [figure=hair5_9EXP tex=[C:\Program Files\Haptek\player\data\standard\skins\myhair.jpg]]

'myhair.jpg' is the full filename of your new hair texture.

e)your character should now be sporting a new haircolor...

You'll need to do some work on the hair detail just as you would the body if you want it to be convincing.

You will probably have noticed changing the hair colour on a body skin makes no difference, thats because it is under the wig.

Hope that makes sense!!!

[ammended to include suggestions and things!, thanks]

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / New Handheld Skin.
« on: May 23, 2005, 04:02:03 am »
For the those days when you just can't get back to the Starship because you are being troubled by aliens, what better way to keep in touch than the rugged all-atmosphere PocketHal.  Particularly handy when you need to translate Clingon.

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / New StarTrek skin..
« on: May 23, 2005, 03:49:55 am »
As promised here's the StarTrek panel, which includes a handy transparent window so you can still use items on the desktop; you may be captain of a starship but you'll still need a trusty recycle bin.

Heres a new skin for Hal.  It only has Menu/Close and Minimize buttons, but I may change this (I tend to use the windows vol/mic controls).

Hope you like it!!! There's more on the way if people do, graphics is my thing.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / hal does not want to work!
« on: May 03, 2005, 07:34:20 am »
hi - hal just doen't want to say hello!

The program installs fine, most of the options on the right-click
menu of the hal icon seem to work like the brain editor etc.

Problem is left-clicking the hal icon to actually run hal just freezes up my pc completely.

I've looked for system requirements but can't seem to find any.
My PC isn't runnig a lot as I completely reset it, so there's no Virus software or firewalls.  It's running (or not!) on a celeron 1GHZ with windows 98.

Would Direct X version make any difference?
I'm using a Radeon 9000 video card.
Soundcard is SB compatible by 3com.

As you can see my PC isn't really top of the range(!), but I would have thought it would be able to run this okay.

Thanks if anyone can help.
