I have tried to install this program on 3 different computers with windows XP and it simply does not work. I get error 1335. I am wondering if anyone has gotten this program to work on Windows XP to help me. I have WASTED 38 dollars!! for something that does not work and I am pretty pissed off. The program works fine on my work PC but of course my work PC does not have windows XP.

Check out the first entry on the troubleshooting page http://www.zabaware.com/assistant/trouble.html
This occurs if you have Windows XP with Service Pack 1, a computer with over 256 MB RAM, and an installation program over 100 MB that utilizes the Windows Installer Service.

I tried that first on both computers and it still does not work

My computers only have 256 ram so it should work without doing the stuff you said. but I tried it with 128 ram and it still does not work

Try Method #1 and Method #3 as listed on http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=314810
Also turn off the virus checking software during the installation.

ok I just tried that and unfortunatly that does not work for me either. I have a dell inspiron 8200 notebook if that makes a difference.

I am still having problems installing. Is anyone actually running this program on windows XP?
-
I have xp and in ran fine. I didn't care for it though. I was using the megahal bot from www.digitalcheese.com and that one worked a lot better for me.

Try doing a custom install and do a minimal install with most of the characters not turned on. If that works, run the installation again (without uninstalling) and just add on components. Can you narrow it down to which component is not working?

I run hal on an XP pro computer (650mhz 256ram) works fine.
apart from the internet support, when I setup the account, from that point on, I get VB errors on everything I type.. if I disable internet access ( news and weather support ) it works fine. not the end of the world, but worth a mention.

I got the CD over the weekend and installed it and It worked. I guess there is a problem installing the software with the downloaded version.

I originally thought that you were trying to install off the CD. Most likely your download was corrupted or incomplete and a redownloaded would have helped.
