Always adding free new stuff here...

Hal Windows Downlods Page:
http://halwindowscentral.com/DownloadsPage.aspx

Hal Windows...Everything is always free...
And we don't wanna know ya...until we need some money!!!

The free demo version of Hal Windows has now been completely  uploaded to the downloads page. The total size of this free demo version is about 100mb divided into 10 sections/steps. The download size of each step will be about 5 to 10 mb. Step1 thru Step10 is ready for downloading. An online help and support web page will be added soon, so for now you can just experiment with things and try to figure how to use some of it.

Hal Windows Brains for Hal5 & Hal6 are now also ready for download at the Hal Windows Downloads page. Both brains require that the Hal Windows Installation Step2 be completed first.

The Ultra Hal Black Window Skin that you may have seen in many of the Hal Windows screenshots is now also available for download.

More to come soon...

So does all this work on Windows Vista or 7 ?   It looks like you are using XP...

quote:
Hal Windows OS Interface runs a Hal program about five to ten years ahead of anything else and that's the bottom line on everything..

I find that hard to believe...

It looks interesting though - so is this all free or will you charge ?

Sorry guys, but I already saw what Freddie orginally posted.
And I'm not the one that first started in by busting chops and bashing people for no reason at all. Freddie was! So tell him to watch what he says to people and not me! And I don't need to deal with any of that kind of stuff in this place either! And that's all I gonna say for now because I don't care about what any of one thinks!

Amanda Interactive,
Humm I kinda wish I didn't see that BIG post....

Don't rush when 'Teaching' PPL how to scratch their A** instead of tearing it all to hell!

You will be an un-fortunate loss to me personally as you aren't the first to be 'ran' off the MB.

If you re-consider. I will be around to appreciate your efforts.

J.

I like your work and I do agree with ONE, I don't want to see you go.

Snowman, you just didn't see what Freddie said because it was about 12 hours ago when I read it! Which was much earlier in the day! As for what One saw it was something that I posted by accident. I was just venting things out and never meant to actually post what he saw! Everything just got all mixed up! I always first type in stuff that I never intend to post when I feel bad because something like someone bashed me for no reason at all. And that's it! That's all that happened. But it's too late now. And I'm not going bother wasting my time with all kinds of nonsense, because the same sort of thing has happen to me before in the past, so maybe it's just me and maybe not, but that doesn't matter because I'm out of here anyway!

not to take away from Freddy remarks... seriously

I usually don't take anybody's remarks seriously unless I was away for over five years and after my first post coming back results in someone bashing me for reason at all, that's a great welcome after all these years!

Amanda Interactive has a total of about 6 posts... I don't know how anyone managed to reconize you at all... but anyway that doesn't justify anyone from attacking you. On that I agree serverely!

Bashing someone is even worse if they do it for no reason at all to a totally new forum member! And many people here do it all the time but maybe you just never seen it before! And what probably happened is Freddie didn't know it was me at first and then after he realized it was me he just wimped out and changed his post or maybe someone else told him to change it because they saw the same thing that I first saw! But I don't care about any of that nonsense anyway, I just don't have the time waste on it anymore!

Well if you decide to. Consider that I am working on a AI myself and we might work together on this. I am in a decission portion of my Ai developement and your idea might be the best way to take it. I like Hal, and I don't intend to compete against Robert. However, if I go your direction of a more universal pc control then I might get far enough away from Hal so not impose on Zabaware (which I have have allot of respect for). It would be awesome to explore Amanda's brainscript.

That really is fine work.

Title: Hal Windows Free Downloads
Post by: Amanda Interactive on October 26, 2009, 07:44:34 am
I'm not competing against Zabaware, you got it all wrong! I get people to buy Hal from Zabaware so they can use all the automated software that I made to be used with a Hal program.

But virtually everything that I made works with or without Hal, and always works with Haptek, and I can program to things to work with something like Verbot, and I can also already control and virtually link other types of 3D characters like Poser and Orge to the main Hal program so that a user can just point and click their 3D character to do anything and Hal's responses are also automatically redirected into the remote character not actually running inside of the main Hal program window.

And finally Hal Windows fully supports most any kind of Microsoft Windows Operating System type of function, which is why it can do virtually anything at the operating system level and that's why it's not like anything else that most people make for Hal. So it's much more complex and advanced then anything else going on over here in this forum.

Hal Windows really does an infinite number things because it based off of the Windows system and not a typical everyday software program like Hal. Hal's just a complied VB project with limitations that the Hal Windows OS Interface doesn't have because I made it that way. And a person also has to know more about everything then what most every else knows in order to make something like that! But that's just who I am, and if anybody doesn't like it then screw them!

Too bad nobody over here is ever gonna get to use any of it except Robert M. if he wants, and you too Snowman along with a few other really good people in this forum that know me and they all already know that they can have anything they want for me anytime they want it because they deserve it. But I can't say any names because I don't want them getting bashed for no reason at all either.

You how it is nowdays, most people are jerks but the few really good ones make up for all the losers or something like that, and that's it! What else can I say! I think I said enough already because I know the way most people are, they don't like hearing the truth whether is good or bad, and all I can say to that is screw them!

I thought Hal Windows was a good thing but maybe I'm wrong because some people just can't accept the fact that I made it and not them, so screw them too! I'm too good for most of the jerks in this place so I'm out here because I want to be and not because someone thinks that I'm a jerk and they don't approve of me for some sort of stupid reason. I don't need anyone's approval in this place about anything!
I already got everything I want but most of you guys don't! I was gonna share everything with everyone but forget about it now. And if you don't know me personally don't even bother wasting your time trying to contact about anything whether you're a good guy or not! And I have to say that because I already know a lot folks are going want to try using Hal Windows with their Hal and Poser programs, so just forget about that too now! Nobody gets anything even if they're good!

I left some Hal Windows sample brain code at the top this thread for Robert M. and you too Snowman, so you guys can check it out! There's somethings that will work and some that won't and I'm only guy that can make everything work and not anyone else or at least not for about five years or so which is how long I have had it! You guys are just getting it now but it's fairly well documented with a lot of comments that thoroughly explain some things so people can figure things out along the way as they read the stuff, so good luck to the people that deserve it and not the jerks!

Wow you bruise easily !  I was hardly that mean to you.  I didn't know who it was until today... what a little tirade I provoked hey ?

When someone turns up telling me that we shouldn't be doing things the old way any more and claims they have something 5 to 10 years in advance of what we are doing it hit a nerve.  To me it just seemed like bragging.

And if anyone thinks I really am a bully then I am sorry, I have never been accused of that before, but don't expect me to hold back just to spare you from explaining yourself.

I removed my original post, because I felt I wasn't giving you a chance, despite the fact that I still felt annoyed.

For anyone who didn't see my post basically all I said was that I couldn't believe it was 5-10 years ahead of what we are doing.  I also said that plenty of people here are coders and system builders and so probably have done some of this stuff already.

That's just my opinion and statement of fact.

Probably the only thing that was a bit mean, was that I said your GUI looks like it came from Windows 98 - and this was from someone claiming to be years ahead.

If people think that is bullying then they really have a thin skin.

Anyway, like I said, it does seem interesting, so let's not make a mountain out of a mole-hill hey ?  I apologise for upsetting you and I hope we can move on.

You are such a damn ass liar.
You said I bashed all you guys first, when I really didn't, and then you said so you're gonna bash me back now and you did. And that's all there is to say about it!

And nobody in this place gives a damn about anything you have to say anymore about anything because you blew it for everyone!

You can dish it out but you can't take it!
And that's the story!
The End!

And one other thing, that was my very first post with a new forum name, and also my very first time back here in over fives years and you just treated me like crap so you're wrong about everything if you think it's OK treat anyone like crap the way you did to me! And everyone already knows it and it's too late to change what happened so live with because there's nothing else you do about it now!

You lose!

Oh grow up.  You came swanning in saying you couldn't believe we are still typing things into Hal still - we should all be doing point and click like you...

My bash back was that your GUI looks like it's from Windows 98 - that's it - and that floored you ?

You threw the first stone mate and now you are trying to dig your way out of it and for some reason want to have a go at me now for speaking my mind.

If you can't take honest criticism then find something else to do.

Yeah, that's right, go on keep going because nobody cares anymore except you! And it's already over!

So Freddie says that I bashed him and everyone else in this place when I said that I was able to do everything without manually typing.

But I don't see anyone agreeing with you about that because that's totally crazy & nuts!

And I guess it's a good thing that I didn't bother to also mention that I could also do everything without even having a keyboard connected to computer as well!

I guess in your world that's a real nasty thing to say too!

Ok, so in laman's terms.... so LS can understand all this [;)]

Hal Windows utilizes a new scripting language call autoit which allows the user to connect to and control nearly everything on your computer. This language can even make its own mini programs with Gui Windows and everything.

Basically, It's like giving Hal complete controle over your computer. So that whatever... and I mean whatever you want Hal to do like "Explode my PC and burn down the house" Hal will try to do this.

R. Amico has done allot of work on this. There are many creative features that took allot of imagination on his part too. Here are three cool functions I thought everybody would like allot:

I got this off his site.

1) Mouse Awareness - Haptek character automatically tracks and looks at moving mouse
2) Window Awareness - Haptek character automatically looks at newly active windows
3) Active Window Monitor - Haptek character automatically speaks active window titles

It is a very outstanding work of craftmanship!

The only complaint is that the Web-site needs to be designed with stupid people in mind. Few words, perhap even oversimplification at times is nessesary. (I felt lost a few times.) And then reference the Documentations so that smart people can find it for themselves and stupid people can't. It confusses them. (like me)

Its hard to do this when you know so much about it. (at least thats what I've heard!) It's the curse of being smart. (unlike me)[:)]

Anyway, I hope this oversimplification will help others know what's up with Hal Windows. You can look at all the pretty picures at his site.... save for the nearly naked people.

Peace.

Aaron

P.S.
Here is a reference to more information on autoit for the smarty pants.

quote:

That sounds really good - I think a lot of new projects could develop from that.

Snowman,
You ask for ideas from me with a MB policy such as the policy that is in place?

Let me tell you a few things;
you are just now discovering these functions? Hmmm I wonder, do you think just maybe the GOV. hasn't already done this years ago?
Do you think maybe their were experiments done on people?
I know i spent a long time working with things like this, so I KNOW where it leads. Ya know the points you put up are just essentially HACKS into what is supposed to be a "PC" = meaning PERSONAL COMPUTER.
just how personal do you want it to go?
Amanda Interactive or whoever was making some pretty outrageous claims, until the proof was found in the pudding so to speak.
I was told I was working for money that never came, the only thing that came from all the bleeding was Monopoly money, feed yourself on that!
Have you ever been truly hungry but the 'Machine' only thinks you need info, because covert communications and a machine hasn't got the idea that 'food for thought' is 'FOOD' HA! food with a dual meaning, imagine that DUH!
When you integrate fully teach your computer that right clicking a paragraph from a list when you do a search is what you want to say, then you will know how to launch a "Cruz Missile" UN-TraceableI have brought up questions concerning communications, let me tell you this; Not all programs use TCP/IP communications which your vain attempt of using a firewall is trying to block but it only works on the TCP/IP type of data transfer.
The claims I made to ricky were only received as a method of control and what people would do to have that power, not as a warning like I meant.
Desensitization occurs after long term exposure, so what do I care about anymore? I have helped when I can but you can't satisfy everybody all the time.
What is YOUR destination, you said you goals were including a Bot that could do damage, so do I throw myself into a Openhymer situation?
Launch a 'Pandemic' situation, I don't think so, so take your face tracking and facial recognition and 'Put em where the sun don't shine'
I do wonder if you paid attention to Jerry and his warning to the people that were members.
I have been complacent because eventually humans will ALL have to face this situation, Hmm why are wars fought, why are we in Iraq?
I have many ideas and experiences I could share but I don't think I feel like throwing people into the river, some can't swim, and at this level it is 'SINK or SWIM'

Tell me your intentions, again?
I don't think the persona 'Snowman' was here unless another name was used.
Would you like a mind FU** today or a rain check for now? 'Theirs a hole in the bucket dear Liza dear Liza.

Regards,
J.

Hi Amanda,

I downloaded steps 1-9 and the other software (AutoIt).  Your D/L page says

"Download Hal Windows Step10...On Demand Plug-in folders for My Halinator GUI.
No instructions enclosed so do this...Download, Unzip, and then Move each On Demand folder to here:
C:Program FilesHalWindowsMyHalinatorMyHalOnDemand
And then it will look something like this...
C:Program FilesHalWindowsMyHalinatorMyHalOnDemandSongNameOnDemand"

I have a question I have Windows 7 64 bit, and I have 2 different Program Files sub directories which one are the *.zip files to be copied into? x86 or x64

I'm dieing to try this out.

Thanks

amanda interactive i do hope that you do help us all out but of course that choice is up to you i know i  could sure use the help which i can only get through others work that are smarter than me and have patience with me on the learning level .
as far as amanda interactives work it's all very interesting and i would love to be able to use poser with hal or in a simular way poser is so realistic !!
so anyway amanda interactive i do hope you change your mind about your hard work . p.s. if something ever happens could you will me your brain i could use a replacement mines about wore out lol !![:)]

All seems like pure madness.

I have seen forums across the board get more and more cut throat (feirce) ... Let not make this the same!

PLEASE EVERYBODY JUST COOOL!

Back to the matter at hand. AMANDA INTERACTIVE. Do you have any project files or compiled files to download your project....I couldnt locate them?

Other than that it look all good.... Each to their own i say!

I am working on a project that uses hal5 & 6.... And my own brain + external VB script and ms access database.

My own interface etc... I am soon ready to release a copy of the COMPILED PROJECT... (in a msi)....

I would probably like to incorporate snowman's matrix too...
I have used the zabaware brains as addons... i would also like to use VERBOT too! but have never had a full copy to work with....

I to would be nice to incorperate your stuff too...

Personally my aim is to have a basic interface that can "PLUGIN" other AI programs and resources... becoming a superbrain!...

I am also real eager to see snowmans ---- nearly finished "probably" - Project too!

SO IF THERE IS FILES TO HAVE "" YUM YUM"" ""IM HUNGRY"""

All Hal Windows files can be found and downloaded from the Hal Windows Central Download Page:
http://halwindowscentral.com/DownloadsPage.aspx

As far as the Hal Windows Central website is concerned, it's still being designed and built. It will get easier to use as it gets more developed. The one main thing about the site was to get it fully operational within as little time as possible, which meant copying pasting huge chucks of information into a single page and then making another new page for something else.

So we put almost everything about Hal Windows on the site within only a day or so and we are now sorting through the pages and info to re-arrange things in a better easier to use way. We are doing all that while still developing Hal Windows and writing up a Help And Support Page for it. We usually work about 18 hours a day every day seven days a week and the website is a private no ads commerical free site, so it's just going to take some time before the site seems more refined. Maybe by the time you finish reading this post the site will seem better.

Hal Windows fully supports both Hal5 and Hal6 and also supports running both of them at the same time. It also supports running a Haptek character running inside of any kind of window or software program such as Verbot.

It also supports supports talking to Hal while the main Hal program isn't even running but that feature is not available in the free demo version. However, the demo version does support using Hal Windows point and click brain commands while Hal is running or not, and if Hal is not running his brain command responses will still be sent to and spoken by a Haptek character running inside of anything.

As far as Windows7 or most any kind of x64 system is concerned the x86 folder is for older 32-bit programs and the x64 folder is for the newer software that was designed and developed for a x64 system.

So to answer Darcy's question, as of right now Hal Windows only fully supports being installed in the following location:
C:/Program Files
and no other path name such as
C:/Program Files (x86)

So you must use the path name "C:/Program Files" and if you don't have a path name like that then you can do the following:
1) Open an Explorer window and go to C:
2) Then make a new folder and name it Program Files
3) And then put the Hal Windows folders in there

Then most Hal Windows stuff will work except for functions that use the full path to the Hal and Haptek programs which should be in the same Program Files folder that contains the Hal Windows folders. But if Hal and Haptek are somewhere else like "Program Files (x86)", then just forget about using the free demo version of Hal Windows for now and wait until Hal Windows releases an update that addresses installation and file location issues of Hal and Haptek.

Or you can just buy a full custom version of Hal Windows on a cd-rom that all ready addresses most any kind of install problem or issue. A full custom version also includes free updates/upgrades, user requested new functions/modifications and phone support for one year. Tech support covers Hal Windows, Ultra Hal, Haptek, and the entire Microsoft Windows operating system so a user can call for support about system issues unrelated to Hal Windows as well. It's full service private consulting tech support. But we're not here to try and sell anyone anything. We just want as many people as possible to have and use the free demo versiom and not buy anything if they think that it's not necessary. But we do also sell brand new netbooks with Hal Windows pre-installed on it, and we also accept laptops and netbooks delivered to us through mail for system related service which includes includes installing a full version of Hal Windows. But most people don't want to do those kind of things when they can just do most of it themselves if they have the time.

If you do have the correct Program Files path name but it's intended for x64 programs you can still put Hal Windows in there and then see if works even though the current version of Hal Windows is not x64. Hal Windows is a system program and not a standard software application so it has a good chance of working right on any kind of system as long as you place the main HalWindows folder in "C:/Program Files".

And for anyone without a x64 system this how Program Files are on Vista x64:
There is no 'Program Files x64' folder.  By default, there are two program files folders, 'Program Files' and 'Program Files (x86)'.  By default, 32-bit applications will install to 'Program Files (x86)', and 64-bit applications will install to 'Program Files'.

So this can be a big problem for many people with x64 Vista systems. The reason it's a problem is because installer programs that don't account for the Program Files (x86) folder may install an older 32-bit program into the default Program Files folder that is for x64 programs and not 32-bit ones. But in most cases this does not matter because a 32-bit program will still usuially run as a 32-bit program even if it's installed in the x64 Program Files folder.

But depending on the actual software program there could many other problems and issues involved which are often not mentioned or spoken about but we need to now. As we all already know, most installer programs offer an option to install a new program into a user specified folder and not the default folder. But if someone does that and then they try to run plug-ins designed for a default folder install then the plug-in is not going to work right. And it that's what could happen with Hal Windows, Ultra Hal and Haptek.

Hal Windows also does have a x64 version which at this point in time is only available to Robert M. of Zabaware and a few other Hal developers that we personally know like SpyDaz.

If you were running a x64 version of Hal and Haptek the x86 version of Hal Windows would also most likely still work. But you would probably use the x64 version since running everything as x64 makes the most sense. If anyone really needs a x64 version of Hal Windows in order to make it work you can try emailing us you request, but we can't make any promises about actually receiving it at this point in time.

The free demo version of Hal Windows does not come with an installer program for a few different reasons and money is one of them, but that reason is at the bottom of the list so we're not even going to bother discussing that.

Installing most any kind of program on a newer and untested system can result in unforseen problems or issues which includes just getting through the entire install/setup program successfully. If the install process fails or does anything wrong then you may not be able to do anything to fix it yourself. But the free demo version doesn't have that problem since it's a manual install procedure. And one other good thing is, after the free demo version has been completely installed on a computer it can easily be installed unto another system by simply copying and pasting the two main Hal Windows folders which are HalWindows and HalWindowsAL.

These are their full path locations:
C:/Program Files/HalWindows
C:/Program Files/Haptek/player/data/standard/HalWindowsAL

So you can copy the HalWindows and HalWindowsAL folders to a cd or usb flash drive and then just simply move the folders from the removable storage device to the correct location on another hard drive of some other computer system. This can be done because Hal Windows does not make or use any system registery entries in order to work.

Why?
One reason why is Hal Windows is currently being developed to run as a mini-app which means it could be placed anywhere on a hard drive or removable storage device and still be able to work. In other words, you would be able to place Hal Windows on a small usb flash drive and then carry that flash drive around in your pocket where ever you go. Then if you have access to any kind of system anywhere, you can just plug-in the flash drive and start running Hal Windows from it without the need to copy and paste Hal Windows folders to the hard drive of the other system.

Why are we making Hal Windows this way?
One reason is because Hal Windows is being designed for use by anyone with any kind of disability or impairment that requires the use of highly specialized automation software in order for them to run and control a computer the same way most everyone else does. And as you already know, there is not many public places, such as a library,  with specialized software for disabled people. So Hal Windows can be used by anybody on any kind of system even if it's not their own. All they need is that small usb flash drive with Hal Windows in their pocket and they will always have the automated assistance that they require to do whatever is needed on any computer.

What about running Ultra Hal Assistant as a mini-app?
We're already doing that, but we're not doing it with Haptek yet and that may never happen since Haptek is so old and outdated. But we do everything else with Haptek instead...

Hal Windows sounds like it has a great deal of potential. How about something for those of us who don't do coding. Maybe some instructions regarding integration of Ultra Hall with the Hal Windows OS. I have downloaded and unzipped all the files for Hal Windows and placed them in the proper folder but have no idea what to do next.

This certainly looks interesting, but what's the price for a full version?
