Has anyone else noticed that recently Zabaware has received the very worst spam attack I've ever seen here? I always use 'read unread postings' link and cannot see any legitimate posting because of the colossal spam postings. Is there nothing that can be done? It's not good for the forum.

Same here, around 10 pages full of spam.  Getting silly.

I noticed that too. Need more security. and security measures.

I think we need more mods, and a setting in the forum that no-one can join unless getting prior approval. And captcha.

I think all posted links need to vetted by the moderator. Wouldn't that stop most spam?

I would like to add another idea: Those who have not purchased Hal can post in forum category at the bottom of the list. They can still inquire about Hal, but would be limited to one forum. The rest of the forums would be reserved for Hal purchasers.  Just a thought. (limited rights that can be set by the administrator.)

It just hurts me to see this forum trashed by spammers. :'(

I smell an I.P ban on spam, If Rob can make a special Registry entry and or a special cookie that resides on a spammers computer, when it uploads to the spammers computer The I.P address is banned and the entry inserted is recorded on the server as being flagged so even if the spammer had a dynamic I.P address the forum server would see the finger print of the registry entry and or banned cookie.

I know Rob can see everyone's I.P address, it is just a matter of selecting the right banning plug-in for his forum.

Just passing some idea's along.

OTCE that would be ok but i beleive a person has to have an agreement that the person has to agree to in software? otherwise if i am not mistaken that's what some company ( i don't remember who sony? ) was in trouble with and sued over because it unknowing( to owners) plcaed a code in pc's? to stop people from doing things .
but i do agree whole heartidly that something will have to be done or someone or more people will practically shut this site down so this is something that Robert hisself is going to have to tackle to stop that from happening!

This forum software has a ban by ip and username feature built in. I just started using it and gave Duskrider's account the same feature. It should be easier now to delete all posts by an abusive member and ban them with just a couple button clicks.

Hi Rob.

could you allow me to be a moderator here, I would respect the position highly and it would give the forum some help in keeping out the spammers.

Sure, you're definitely a trustworthy long time member here. I've given you moderator status. Hopefully between the 3 of us now we will keep spam to a minimum. Please reserve post deletion and account bans only to obvious spam bots/abusers.
