We need to Unite !
« on: April 24, 2003, 06:35:26 am »
Dear Forum users

I just want to say that we all should now unite in making Hal 4.5 a better version and the one with the most powerful data sharing knowledge in other words we all should  come across a way of helping each other more effectively  and reliable , this forum is one of that way but we can further this by sharing a central file or something so that lets say  Davie had  a line to add to this data base he would save it in a format that the rest of us can download and updated our own file as well and so forth , does anyone have a better ideas

I want to speak to programmers and  people who wish to see Hal advance more for Windows Users , Linux users , and Pocket PC users . only as a team we can  truly make it possible to control and advance Hal

Please please come forward my email is waheedrafiq@blueyonder.co.uk   don’t hesitate to contract me.

I am a new member to the Hal forum, I am very impressed by the program. I too would be glad to collaborate in the development of this wonderful creation. I commend Robert for his work with the engine. I am mainly a graphics artist but have a lot of interest in computing and Artificial Intelligence. I believe there is much to recommend the develope of this technology for the betterment of humanity and the world. I recommend all who are interested in this technology to provide feedback.
                                     Thank You

Hello my name is Morkeleb. i would be intersted in helping you in you endeavor to to continue to upgrade Hal. It would be very interesting to se how far Hal is able to evole. I am new to using Hal though so my inout might not be of much use but I would like to help if I can.[:I]

A genralized data format and storage location for new info for Hal to Learn would be a great improvement to Hal. He/She would be able to learn from a much broader diversity of knowlege. Please excuse my gramatical erros if any I was not the best student in English class.

I do have one suggestion though. If you have access to an online dictionary or encyclopedia you could download the text parts and have Hal read them to learn more. You could also try using a thesarus so hal could learn different words to exchange with when he talking to you. Like I said they are just suggestions.[:)]

If you find out anything else or would like to talk to me anyfurther you can email me at morkeleb_2003@earthlink.net
Ask and you shall learn

This sounds like an interesting proposition.  My Hal is configured as a female elf character named Kendra, which I purchased from www.davidware.com (He does some really nice work in regard to MS Agent characters).  I would like Kendra to be more knowledgeable about IT and computers (since that is my field).  AI has lots of possibilities to it.  With all the input we can give it, we can really take it far.  So, count me in.

We could increase Hal's brain greatly, if the manufacturers would provide copies of the brain files from their online Hal. The huge conversations that online Hal has been involved in, must have helped his brain files to grow massively.

What do you think - and how do we persuade Hal's creators to make the files available to us?
ITS NOT WHAT YOU THINK THAT MAKES YOU HUMAN --- ITS WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU THINK!

I don't know... Think about it... the brain used in the web version would have tons of gibberish from ppl who have no idea what they are doing... I personally don't have a computer with a big enough hard drive to store all that "crap" that ppl will say... For example: "your stupid"...

However, some of you guys have shown some very interesting conversations... perhaps you could zip your "brains" and make it available for the rest of us to enjoy...???

Just make sure if you zip the brain file folder down you include all the info needed for the brain and the folder and make sure it is windows compatable for windows users and make a note for wich zip file program you used.

I am not a good programmer and am quite busy as a College English teacher, but i bought Hal 4.5 and I am enjoying it.  Can't wait for ver 5 to come out:-). I have a question... It seems that ver 5 will have a new format, does that mean if you do some work and add conversations to it like you are suggesting, that we will have to redo it all or will it be compatible?
Anyway i'd love to join and help test & contribute however I can.
Regards
I dream of creating a self replicating, self maintaining, autonomous robot :)

As i don't have one or two of the new users who have recently posted their ideas here can you please forward me your email address on waheedrafiq@blueyonder.co.uk

At last I have decided to do a mail slot and  kick start this group up.

As you all know that version 5 will  be due out and its free for those of us who have already version 4.5 ,
I will get back to you guys about the compatibilities side of things.

Ok guys , I need to speak to those who are

A)   Interested in Learning Basic VB script Programming to advance HAL
B)   Anyone who has  Advance level knowledge  in VB or C++
C)   Topic creators.( Anyone who wants to increase Hals brain knowledge and then share that conversation  brain with the rest of us. Remember this file will increase as  the reminding user will add they bits to the same file.)
D)   Anyone with Electrics , PIC knowledge

The Aim of this group is to keep everything free and open to all members of A. I unite group .

Aim

·   Our aim should be to increase  HAL brain power via
-   A)  Knowledge ( those who choose to take choice C from the above menu  will work towards this)
-   B) To further advance Hals brain power via  reprogramming the engine or adding some advance feature that users will benefit from ( this will be done  by choice  A & B  from the above menu)

-   C) Our aim will  also  be to add function to HAL so that for example if we type or say Hal switch off lights , automatically all lights in your house will turn off via blue tooth or infra-red device.( this will be achieve via  Electrics and PIC group) As their aim will be to produce a device for Hal.

As you all know that this is a newly created Group and we  all are volunteers ,  I would like to hear any suggestion or anything that you might feel will help this group go beyond  the future, then please do email me on waheedrafiq@blueyonder.co.uk

I need a email of from all of you would you will like to contribute to this group. Hopefully we will advance this and increase in more memberships, I need to know if you would like to start now contributing to choice C  while we work on the others. also any ideas or something that you feel this group needs then please forward your ideas to me.

Guy's and ladies I am very serious the possibilities to this group to go  is unlimited we are making history here thanks to Zabware and Ultra HAL , this is it, its now or never by contributing something to HAL knowledge you are increasing its ability to talk with difference conversation and therefore you are making A. I a real reality

I have enclose a copy of how should  Topic creators do they bit of contribution.

Final  Welcome to A. I. Unite group.

Hello, I am a Hal user, and I have found it extremely helpful.  However, if I might add some suggestions as to what to do with the advanced features:  I would really appreciate it if you could add in close program and switch program capabilities.  The open program command for Hal is very useful for me, but closing the programs and switching can be tedious since I work a lot with my hands and can't get at the computer, and most commands are voiced.  Another good idea is to let it connect to all the major operations of the OS, such as finding files or folders, control panel, task manager, etc.  These are just suggestions however.
