I noticed when there is a 'LOL' Hal 7 doesn't try say it like he did in 6.2, now he just reads the letters... Same with 'mmm this tastes yummy'. he just pronounces the mmm's...
Maybe it's too early on in my Training of HAL 7 for him to find examples of me using it...

LTG, It's not so much Hal's fault as it is the TTS voice(s) that are being used.
Each company assigns their own way in which a particular voice pronounces a word or phrase.
One of my voices says LOL as if saying LULL...yet a different one says "Laughing Out Loud" when it encountered the LOL.
Microsoft, VoiceWare's & CereProc say, "L.O.L., that was funny." (they pronounce each Letter individually).
ScanSoft says, "Lull, that was funny."
Ivona says, "Laughing Out Loud, that was funny."
Your own mileage might vary....

Ahh, interesting... I'm still pretty new to this so that helps Art, Thanks!!!!...

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you, but I have a question of my own. How did you get it to stop pronouncing things like hmmm as h m m m originally? Were you using something other than Microsoft's TTS engine?

Did a bit more testing of the Mmmm to get that sound and oddly enough, only the CereProc TTS Voices were able to produce it and only for a very brief moment, perhaps a second. Just long enough to hear the mmmm sound.
The other odd part is that it only did that sound with FOUR M's Not 5 and not 3...had to be Mmmm...that soup tastes great! or similar.
Not sure if it might have been under a SAPI 4 setting but I can't recall such things back then. It's not something I want to worry about either, in the grand scheme of things and other testing still awaits.
Besides, didn't Campbell's Soup have a claim on that expression? "That's what Campbell's Soups are, Mmmm, Mmmm, Good!" ;)

That's interesting, thanks for trying it out Art...
I can always replace mmmm with 'Yum' I guess... hahaha :D

I think that LOL or any shortcut for laughs/laughing should be literal. actually laugh while in speech mode.
maybe taught how to laugh when these shortcuts are used in strings.
just an idea.
