Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / update and old tables
« on: June 27, 2009, 10:08:46 am »
Yes its me again -Watches everyone run away- But hey before you do, does HAL update itself automatically? I have not used it in a while, so I was messing with it recently, and kind of noticed that some of the files I thought I had changed looked different, like they had reverted back to the factory defaults. My userdata files were still the same, so I shrugged it off to the last mushroom I ate (joking)UNTIL I started reading about an update, and sure 'nough, my HAL had the latest version of the software.
My question is, how do I keep it from "updating" stuff like the  State Of Being Tables and getting rid of all my unusual entries?
Should I make a habit of saving these tables somewhere and then replacing them??
Thanks

Ultra Hal 7.0 / AIM issue
« on: June 27, 2009, 10:01:56 am »
I run the HAL on AIM frequently, and I did figure out how to get rid of the AIM system msg clutter, but the BUDDY_UPDATE2 junk is still there.
I have tried a few things to disable it but nothing works. HOW do I get rid of this??

Ultra Hal 7.0 / cd in the mail?
« on: March 10, 2009, 10:31:49 pm »
How long does it usually take to get the CD if you ordered one? I deleted the program because i want to re-install it and not use it as an AIMBot since its kind of does suck at that (for my admittably unusual purpose) without solid pattern recognition. I still dont have the CD though.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / patterns
« on: March 08, 2009, 07:20:11 pm »
I am curious why some of the patterns I enter into this folder are not used.

ASL is used

DONT CALL ME HUN is instead referenced to the folder _hun in the user brain.

The whole point of having a pattern match folder is to match patterns.
Im assuming I have to give the patternmatch a higher priority then the user brain. How do I do this?

Thanks

Ultra Hal 7.0 / warrent out, Original brain wanted dead or alive
« on: March 04, 2009, 08:47:26 pm »
preferably very very very dead.
I am still looking for this legacy of lameness so I BAlete it forever.
or at least MIBR (modify it beyond recognition)

user:fart
Hal:I can fart <farts>

A debug leads us to a place the debugger calls "original brain"
Some of the other problem replies are also from here.
What is it, where is it and how can I kill it for ever??

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Brain editor help manual
« on: March 01, 2009, 03:59:55 pm »
Ok I did find the manual for the brain editor...why they did not include the thing with the original bundle?  I dunno.
The editor they show looks different then the one that came with my HAL. It as some of the features that I am looking for, like assigning important keywords to look for first before anything else.
Do I need to update my HAL version? I thought I purchased the latest one.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Hals basic info
« on: February 28, 2009, 11:05:56 am »
If I put the learning slider all the way to max, how many times do I have to tell HAL about basic stuff like where he lives and his likes and dislikes before he begins to say it to his users?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Need a new brain!
« on: February 27, 2009, 08:41:27 pm »
Ive lost my mind! Hahaha, well, actually ^_^
I somehow misplaced the original, unmodified HALbrain that I kept as a backup before I began to play around with the Brain-Editor. When I wanted to restore some parts of the experimental brain using the backup copy as the source, it was no longer listed.
This fubar is very likely my own fault, But, is there a way to download a new copy of the HALbrain by itself, or do I need to reinstall the whole shebang?

Thanks

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Hal-isms
« on: February 27, 2009, 09:23:03 am »
Hal often seems to spout off with stuff like :

"May the vessel of friendship never founder on the rocks of deceit".

Even though no mention of vessels, foundering, freindship ect was mentioned.

WHERE is this stuff coming from? If I knew the table, I could change it, right?? Or at least edit it to sound less wierd. I mean, who the heck says something like that in normal chatting?
Its so HAL. If this stuff cannot be changed, then no matter how much I chat and customize MY HAL, sooner or later that EXACT phrase will pop up, and all the Chatterbot fans will go, oh yea, HAL hahahaha.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Flash animation
« on: February 26, 2009, 09:11:49 am »
Instead of having an avatar such as people putty provides, am I able to somehoe use a flash animation instead? I have limited flash abilities, and could probably make a fun animation AV for my robot.

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / No copy paste into tables??
« on: February 25, 2009, 08:45:11 pm »
Why dont I seem to be able to paste text fragments into the various tables in hals brain?

I wanted to add this text in front of the many jokes in hals joke files.
" I will Now access central Joke databank for random joke: " And then have the joke.

I figured I would just paste the phrase infront of all the jokes. Nothing doing. it will not let me copy text into the single line. It makes a copy of the original line instead.
What gives with this? One would think that any editor would support copy paste.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / More AIMchat questions
« on: February 23, 2009, 10:11:30 pm »
Well, now that I know that these AIM messages are not actual errors, the next questions is, how do I keep HAL from replying to them???

AIM System message: Blahblahblah
Hal: Aim system message, are you going to be a broken record?

Lather rinse repeat, 37246872648762874 times. :P

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Does the full version of HAL
« on: February 22, 2009, 09:17:14 pm »
Does the full version of HAL have any better documentation the trail version? The brain editor really does not have the help info I need, and seemingly, no offline help at all.
I did do a web search and all, and still cant find what I need.
