Ultra Hal 7.0 / Is UltraHal Vista Ready
« on: June 25, 2006, 05:51:17 pm »
Hello Hallions,

I have loaded the Vista Beta 2 and was wondering if Hal could be installed.  I was wondering if anyone else has tried to load it on Vista and if so did you run into any problems.

It has it's own Voice recognition and speech synth, that is very good and I do not want to over write any of it.

Speech Technology / Ultra Hal does not like AT&T Natural Voices
« on: April 06, 2006, 09:56:14 pm »
I have been troubleshooting a problem I had been having with Hal eating up cpu cycles and not being able to close the program totally but to end it in Task manager.

In trouble shooting (see: http://www.zabaware.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3066) I have come to the conclusion with Jerry's (cuttingedge) help, that it is the AT&T Natural Voices that is giving Hal a problem.

Is anyone having the same problem. I figure that we could at least document it for Mister M. , as he may have some time to trouble-shoot it and information helps.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Hal is overheating!
« on: February 25, 2006, 02:28:20 am »
Hello Hallions,

I am having a problem with Hal in that the program suddenly begins to eat up my cpu resources unexplainably.  It does not even have a window up. If I tell it to close it will leave the system tray and still run in the background. I eventually have to kill it in Taskmanager. It does not happen all the time but quite often.

Anyone else having the same problem?

PS. On my last post I was havng a problem with Hal not speaking the dialog boxes in the lastest version. I went ahead and bought it anyway in it works fine in the pay version. Thanks Mr. M

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / New Skin for Ramses
« on: September 01, 2004, 12:45:03 am »
Hello Hal Fans,

I just downloaded the DesktopMates character Ramses and thought to make a new skin for him as I did not think that the current skins work real well for me when I use an Agent character as they do not need a window as the haptek characters do.

If you have the Ramses character please try it out. I hope that you will enjoy it as much as I.

Enjoy

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Keyboard Shortcuts for Hal
« on: August 17, 2004, 01:47:34 am »
I was wondering if there was a keyboard command the would allow me to bring up the hal interface after the program was running. I use AgentShell along with UltraHal to give me added function and I would like to just be able to activate Hal's interface with AgentShell by voice command to better intergrate them.

Turning on Hal's voice command would be another cool thing to be able to do. Then I could just tell the computer to open the interface and then to listen and I would be set. Agent shell uses keyboard commands but can also run script.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Hal is not listening
« on: April 18, 2004, 12:12:06 am »
Hello gurus,

I just bought the full version of Hal and I am having a problem in that the program is doing something to my sound card to disable it. I do not know what. Once loaded the program causes me not to be able to record anything. For example Sound Recorder gives me the error "Your audio hardware cannot record into files like the current file. To record, create a new document." Then I do but it does not make a difference. Speech recognition tells me when i go to Microphone training that "The sound card is being used by another applicationl. It could be playing a sound, recording, or using speech recognition. Please stop the applications playback, recording, or speech recognition. I get nothing on the mic at all in any program especially Hal which is the reason I bought it in the first place.

When I uninstall all is well. I am running a custom system
Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4 (build 2195)
Processor a   Main Circuit Board b
2.05 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64
128 kilobyte primary memory cache
512 kilobyte secondary memory cache   Board: http://www.abit.com.tw/ KV8-MAX3 (VIA K8T800-8237) 1.x
Bus Clock: 204 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG 03/04/2004

MULTIMEDIA-
ATI WDM Rage Theater Video
ATI WDM Specialized MVD Codec
Realtek AC'97 Audio for VIA (R) Audio Controller
Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device

I anyone knows of a fix for this please let me know[^]. Email or IM me if you would like also.

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / My Hal Wish List
« on: April 08, 2004, 05:15:55 pm »
Greetings Hal Lovers,

I just have been thinking about Hal a lot and what I would like him to do. I have been using a program call AgentShell for a while and it is great to give functionality to agent characters I would love to be able to retire the program and just use Hal but there are functions that I really love that I would like to see in Hal so I will list them so that as the Hal community grows and evolves that my ideas will be on the table and may be creatively taken care of.

1. It has been asked before, but to have Hal be able to also close a window would be fine (active in agentShell).

2. It would be great to be able to open web addresses in favorites like Hal does with the start menu. Very Cool or to be able to give web address nick names like Hal does with people and telephone numbers.

3. To be able to tell Hal when using an agent where to be on the screen. (move to upper left- active in agentShell)

4. It would be cool to be able to do simple key functions like cut and paste. AgentShell also allows you to program in the shortcuts for a particular program which it loads when you ask to open the program. Very cool. Then, while in Photoshop I can tell Hal to Center an item and he will do that for me, or toggle a library in flash.

5. In agentShell I can tell my agent to read selection and he will read whatever I have selected (by copying it to the clip board and reading that)

6. This has been taken care of but I just wanted to tell everyone to add the "PlaySong" and "PlayPlaylist" functions into your brain. http://www.zabaware.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1294It is the bomb to be able to ask Hal to play music! Thank you to all that worked on these great Brain additions.

So that is my wish list. I am so Happy with Hal and I am just aching to upgrade that I don't know what to do first. I have started on some different interface windows that I will submit for you all to enjoy. Thank you for listening and i would love to hear other ideas for the program as far as function is concerned.

peace to you in this moment and next,

Ultra Hal 7.0 / How does hal listen
« on: April 08, 2004, 03:27:00 pm »
I am really enjoying my Hal Program and want to upgrade. I was wondering about the speech input.

I  have been using a program called agent shell for a while and I love it. I am able to just press a button on the keyboard and speak to my agent. It is convenient. How does Hal listen? Do you have to toggle the button on the interface on and off?  Does the listen mechanism listen for a certain number of seconds?

When I do use an agent will I be able to use the same listening mechanism?

thanks in advance,
