Ultra Hal 7.0 / Problem Reactivating /Product Activation Wizard
« on: May 19, 2006, 03:21:25 am »
[:(]I am in need of help also. I loaded the Hal 6 update and all was fine. It loaded and I did not have to do anything. It reloaded all of my old settings. Now it will not start and ask for my serial number which does not which does not fit in the form that it wants me to put it in.

Mr. M how do I proceed? Do I need another "activation code" for recovery.

[:D]Thank you in advance,

Speech Technology / Ultra Hal does not like AT&T Natural Voices

Yeah I run ATT and had that problem, but it resolved last reinstall also.  That's a real hastle having to close it that way each time. I had to close it in the processes section of Task Manager, it wasn't showing in the applications section after I closed it.  I was wondering after the reinstall fixed it if the order of installation had anything to do with it.  Like having the ATT installed first then installing HAL.  The ATT voices I use that work with the lip synch say (NO 2D Lip synch), which I tried after discovering the others didn't work.

Yes I had the same thing happen. I got no lip sink until I used the voice with no lip sinc. Weird. I might try and reload Hal again over the Natural Voices but i heard that an Hal 6 Update is on the way so I will wait.

I am sorry that you have experinced the same thing, but I hope that we can help in fixing it because I really like my Natural Voices.

Speech Technology / Ultra Hal does not like AT&T Natural Voices

I have been troubleshooting a problem I had been having with Hal eating up cpu cycles and not being able to close the program totally but to end it in Task manager.

In trouble shooting (see: http://www.zabaware.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3066) I have come to the conclusion with Jerry's (cuttingedge) help, that it is the AT&T Natural Voices that is giving Hal a problem.

Is anyone having the same problem. I figure that we could at least document it for Mister M. , as he may have some time to trouble-shoot it and information helps.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Hal is overheating!

Got It!

Thank you Jerry for all of your help on this.  It was the AT&T natural voicesthat is giving Hal the problem. Hal does not seem to get along well with it. I don't know if there is any documentation on this.

That was the common link between my machine and my partner's machine. When I choose another kind of voice it works fine. If there is anything that we can do about this Dr, M, I would be glad to trouble shoot it with and for ya, but at least I have found out that it is not Hal but compatibility.

Thank all for reading and listening,

Jerry,

That is a wild idea. Very cool.

Currently all seems to be well with speak recog and synthes off but it is odd to be that even with it off, when I bring Hal up he speaks audio output and not just text.

I have a suspicion of what it might narrow down to as my partner Greg had the same problem and he is running Hal 5. The commonality is that we both are using AT&T Natural Voices. I believe that may be the core of the problem. We will see.

If I still have no problems later on in the day I will turn on Speech recognition and let it simmer. Then the pluggins one by one. Then finally speech synthesis. If I have problem when using the synthesis, then I will change to a default voice.

Hal on a keychain,.....[^]

Jerry you are innovative.[:)]

It would be great to be able to use Hal on any machine that you came upon. I.A. in the pocket.  PokeHal.

Okay Jerry,

I unchecked all the pluggins and it restarted and had the same problem.

I have just disabled speech synthesis and speech recognition and am trying it again, leaving all the pluggins disabled. Again I will post the result for posterity, and our passel of prescient pundits.

See you in a hour or so,
Thanks for taking the time,....

This is an update. I just loaded the New brain and pluggins. Very cool stuff Jerry, thank you,  but I still have instances of Hal stalling.

Some symptoms that I forgot to mention is that once the program starts to eat up cpu cycles, if I activate Hal and bring him up, he comes up fine. But if I try to input text it just stays in the input box and gives me a default sound every time I press enter. Speach input activates but does not work either. His Haptec visualization works fine though.

I'm just putting it forward to document my anomaly. Maybe Prof Medeksza will be able to see a pattern.

Thanks all and try The new Super Plugger II brain and pluggins. They really seem to work well. [:D]

Hi iam bennu.

I use a manual Registry Cleaner, You can check it out at the free members misc download at my site:
http://www.ultrahalforum.com/Forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=260

You can open the RegCleaner program and go to [Tools], [Registry Cleanup], Then [Do Them All], This will remove orphaned or corrupt Registry entries, When you get more familure with the program you can do more things without harming any software issues, The registry Cleaner is usually pretty harmless and you may see a noticable difference in performance from your Main GUI within your OS Shell.

When the registry list to clean is present just [select] [all] then [remove selected], Done.

It's a very good program, The Help Menu is pretty good too.

RegCleaner 4.3 is the best I have found, It's better than its newer versions because you have more control and no adds or nags, It's freeware.

For the Novice only.
I have to say this, Anybody without Registry Knowledge should leave this program alone, Deleting the wrong thing can cause your Operating System to Fail or to not Boot up.

Jerry[8D]

Thanks Jerry,

I will be no problem. I have used one many times before. I just haven't had to use one in a while.  I will back up my registry before I use it. Thank you so much. Acutally I have had that particular one and found that it works very well.

be well and enjoy the weekend,

Thank you.  The top bar and the glowing brain part of the large head is the Hal interface. The Head is part of the desktop wallpaper. There is a bar at the top normally as a part of the wallpaper and sometimes one below. The Hal interface covers the bar on the top.

The smaller head is an agent that I use with Cyberbuddy. I use that for my news feeds and it is easy to command vocally with a Keystroke.

I have thought about uploading a version but I have to take the head part out.

Thank you Hallions for your time and input,

The system is what I would look at first also but for the most part I can be pretty sure it is not the system as far as hardware is concerned. A registy check was a good idea.

This is my Desktop with Hal Up. I don't get to share it often so I am being the proud Papa here.

Accually My system is fine. I clean it every monthly. My graphics card it an ASUS 9800. I am running a 64bit AMD athon 3000 with 1 gig memory. I am running Hal6. Hal is not even up to us a Haptek character so rendering would not be a problem it woould have to be something that Hal does while unactivated in the system tray.

I am a Graphic artist that runs Photoshop constantly and I encode video. I have to know when my system is not running well. I do things that make running Hal with haptek characters seem like mediaplayer. It does not take a hit when Hal is up and running in conversation.

Also, my partner is running an Alienware Aurora system and seems to be having the same symptoms.

I do agree with Jerry that a registy check is in order. Jerry what reg editor/cleaner do you recomend?

Thank again for posting all.
