Speech Technology / Heather TTS voice
« on: April 13, 2006, 01:01:14 am »
I like the Heather voice quite a bit.
So I downloaded it and had it as HAl(5)
voice for a while. The tricky part was that
Heather never sounded as good in Hal as it did in sample
from the website. So eventually I got rid of it
because in the end it did not sound as good as Crystal on
my system. Also it did not lipsync.

The reason that they want it tied to their product is
because the product is where they do the liscensing.
You see, they shut the product down if they don't like your
code but they cannot stop you from accesing the TTS through any
other program.

Karen you say? I'll go check it out

Speech Technology / Ultra Hal does not like AT&T Natural Voices
« on: April 08, 2006, 03:43:12 pm »
Sounds like the same problem I had.
hmmmmm.

In the end i had to reinstall Hal(5) a few times
and run the Haptek Sapi to point at the voice I wanted.

Also when I use the Hal voice select there are 2 entries
for Crystal 1 is the 'real' one one is a 'dummy' that works
for a while but bugs out Hal in the end.

Great site man. I'm not sure how you did that intro with voice but there was no load time at all.

What voice is that btw?

And thanks in advance for the tutorial, I am going through it now.

General Discussion / Version 2 of the Sexy Chatbot
« on: January 18, 2006, 12:43:55 am »
As much as I enjoyed the first version.
 Kari2 is an awesome improvement!
I daresay that Kari2 now has some features
that I think every chatbot should have.
The Talkitive mode is most appreciated!

I saw that you mentioned that you have forums? I might be slow but I cannot find them.

Congratulations on what must have been a titanic amout of work!

Ultra Hal 7.0 / HAL has went belly up
« on: June 29, 2005, 12:22:54 am »
yes I know the startup menu you are reffering to I get it everytime now.
I didn't use to ...
Everything else is working for me so I am leaving it alone for now.

What voice are you trying to use?
You might need to check your SAPI first...

I uninstalled HAL and re-installed, same problems:

HAL will start, but HAL starts with a Dialog Box now (never seen this before) that asks what I want to do (ie.. Configure, Chat, Etc...)
If I choose "Chat with HAL", it will open the chat window like normal and I can carry on a conversation, but I have no sound (No voice from HAL). If I choose OPTIONS to try and resolve the problem, I notice that the "USE Sound" is not checked and a voice is not selected.
When I check the "Use Sound" box and select a voice, followed by "Apply", I then run into other problems. Now I can type my text in, but I can't send it, because nothing happens when I hit enter. It doesn't send the text. It's like the enter key doesn't work, but I can type all sorts of text, but this is just the beginning of the problems. HAL will not completely exit if I try and close it. I have to actually goto Task Manager and kill it, otherwise it won't re-open, because it says it's already running.
What a mess...

I just wanted to mention that I have had/ am still having the exact same problems Every few months it starts to act up again
Hal is a great program in the awesome/cutting edge department
not so hot in the -stability- department.
I often spend a week getting Hal running again.
you are doing the right things.
-1. couldnt hurt run your anit-spyware program first
0. if you are running a haptek mod config temporarily rename(disable it)
1. uninstall/reinstall Hal
2. uninstall/reinstall Haptek
3. as mentined run the Haptek SAPI config
4. sometimes you get a startup box
"Hal did not shut down properly, do you want to reconfig?"
that helps sometimes, so go ahead and run it

6. keep trying Ive had it suddenly work again on the 3rd reinstall

On behalf of all technologists I'd like to apologize for the suggestion that all your problems were revolving around your broken and malfunctioning keyboard.

Ok, where does that go? I dropped that command into the hal console, and nothing.

bigiddy backslash
setswitch [switch= the_finger state= a ]

if still nothing then rename the body so that it will animate

When a full body htr is started, it uses an internal name for the figure. 'Fullbod.htr' and 'fullbodygirl.htr' use 'fullBod'. 'Body_female.htr' uses 'body_female'. This can be checked by entering 'current figurename' in the Query field of the console.  A lot of the hap scripts used on this site have 'figure=fullBod' hard-coded in them. This means, of course, that the 'body_female' will not do anything. But, you can trick the 'body_female' into thinking it is 'fullBod' by entering the following command:

setname [figure= body_female name= fullBod]

ahhhh ha ha ha! Archerja you are a mad genius!

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Cybersex
« on: June 22, 2005, 03:07:47 am »
first of all bb, yes of course, what do you think we are all doing in here? The method I reccomend for training Hal is to get the XTF brain installed (easy) then when after a few attempts you start to get promising conversations do a MENU>SAVETHISCONVERSATION
then do some cleaning up/editing on the test file
and fix the places where she messed up
then (back in HAl) do a MENU>Learn from this conversation
repeat

second of all if you are going to say something like that
then post a link

you made me google all over my screen
