Ultra Hal 7.0 / question about useing hal to call using skype
« on: August 12, 2011, 05:11:50 pm »
I know if you hook up your phone to your computer, Hal can make a call for you. I have never tried this though.
I have been thinking about getting Skype (a video chat program that can call land lines), and was wondering if anyone got or can get Hal to make a Skype call.

has anyone put any more thought into a way our Hals brains can be placed on a server, So that the Hal program on two machines would be able to access/share it(not at the same time of course). right now I sync them on two machines, just looking for a better way I can accomplish this without loosing all the Hal features.

General Discussion / Just a thought
« on: May 11, 2010, 05:13:06 pm »
I just had a thought that I thought I would share. I had a thought of how cool it would be to have a stand alone Ultra Hal operating system, that could open up Mac, Windows, Linux, or other operating systems  virtually. I can see the headlines now (Guess who just flew over Windows? no it's not a apple, no it's not a Penguin, it's Ultra Hal)

Is it possible to have Hal open all programs in a specific location on the desktop, and specific windows size[?] For example: target program opens with values set to x= 20 y=20 width=200 height=300

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Hal pc control
« on: March 01, 2010, 09:06:37 pm »
I would like to explore the possibilities of being able to control your pc via voice through the use of Hal, is it possible? If so Could anyone point me in the right direction. Here are a few things I would like to be able to do. Could a plug-in work for any one of these?

1: control system volume
2: control a program like winamp, to (stop, pause, play, next, close, etc.)
3: shut down system
4: restart system
5: on demand go to a specified web address, is a plug-in made for this already? I thought I might have seen one a while back but can't seem to find it.
6: give stats on our system, like cpu usage, memory usage, and maybe upload and download speeds.

most of these can be done using Microsoft speech, but I think it would be great if we could do all these within our Hals.

General Discussion / Ideas to make Hal more useful
« on: February 24, 2010, 08:16:36 pm »
I see threads spread about here on the forums of ideas that we have to improve Hal or to make the program more useful to us. this thread can be used to centralize them all in one area so that Robert or Coders can see what the community wants and/or needs.

To start off I would like to say that Hal is the best program out there. I use it more than any other program on my main pc, a Gateway Fx Laptop. I am now building/selling/Installing computers for road and marine vehicles, which brought on more Ideas to expand our hal. I have a pc in my car and Soon I will have a pc in my boat. to be able to link my Hals is a must, to be able to network or share a portable brain for Trinity(my Hals name) would be very useful.

If we could use our Hal as a front end, a customizable shell so to speak over our operating system and/or choose to open as a program, the possibilities would be endless.

I have been looking at customizable front ends like centrifuge, Riderunner and Roadrunner. If we could integrate Hal into one of these, or if Robert could build a customizable GUI front end like these with Hal integrated in, Hal Would even more useful to to us user.

Do you have any other Ideas on how Hal would be more useful to you, if so please post them here, and please comment on others as well.
