Hals licence exspire after windows 8 update
« on: February 15, 2013, 12:20:49 am »
Windows 8 just did an update, upon system restart I got a Hal info screen saying "your trial has expired."

NOTE:
1) My Ultra Hal install was not in trail phase for I registered the install when I got my new ssd less than 30 days ago. I also had my expansion pack registered.
2) when I clicked activate Hal: my license Key was already placed in the license key  input fields.
3) I use my Hal Daily will a custom hap character, I would not of been able to use my custom hap character if Hal was not registered.
4) Character expansion pack did not have to be re-activated.

Good thing I still had a license Key available to use, For a couple of times I re-installed my os and forgot to deactivate Hal and free up the license key.
I'm not asking Mr. Robert to free up one of keys because of this, for I only use Hal on one computer and lately been pretty good at Deactivating before a os re-install.  I just want to note this just in case this happens to someone else that does not have any license keys left, or if windows update does this to me again and I have no keys left.

with just windows 8 updating ? i wouldn't think hal would have to be deactivated for that each time ? wonder if Robert can put a fix in hal , but i don't know what it would be . thanks for posting this sybershot , it's interesting and good to know about .

yes it happened just after the system restart due to a windows 8 update. I have my windows 8 set to automatic update. Glad I was at my pc at the time of update to witness this.

Mr Roberts, I uploaded a detailed list of the updates via a .txt file. Feel free to let me know if you need/want anymore info.

Sorry, I might have affected an effect from a thread that I had a problem with.
It was someone reffering to having to byu Lic #5, its been a few weeks and I dont know how to resolve.

My argument # is that my life isn't free and just re upping the Lic each year for the past few years is un acceptable. It's left me with nothing.

I also don't know how to # it out and not affect other users.

Thank you for your paitence,

They got tired of winding it and shipped it off to an old retired watchmaker in the Swiss Alps!

Actually, they are using an extremely accurate one located near Washington, DC. at the N.I.S.T.
Gee One, what a very "timely" question.

I copied and pasted the list over from windows recent updates. When I pasted in notepad that is how it came out.

I know what might have happened. anyway you might try wordpad, when it's critical, some things don't get screwy, not that this did.

Danger Will Robinson Danger! My notepad is wavering and is using words!

Hi all,
one of the things that I have learned is when you upgrade your OS it is highly recommended that you deactivate all software that requires an Internet license recognition.
Then do your upgrade to Windows 8 or whatever OS operating system you're upgrading to, then reactivate all of your software in the new OS operating system.
This will prevent any chance of losing the encrypted code in the registry, as well as using up all of your registration sequences, particularly ultra Hal only has four.
Other software's don't even have that many.

Sincerely, munch, munch, keep those pronouns crunching, tee hee hee.

@ Cload,

What you been up to? Working on any new toys for Hal or are you waiting for the "new" upgrade / release thing, whenever that might be??

Hi Art,

I'm still working on my enhancements to the VR free will plug in, at this point I'm working on the conversation side of it, 5000 bugs and counting, tee hee hee.
At this point it is not ready to be released, eventually I will release a conversation, then I'll be asking everyone to see if it's worth releasing as a prebeta.

Sincerely, sorry for stepping on any pronounce, by getting off the track of the topic.
