I just got my CD with the neo speech voices sold by Zabaware and installed it. The Paul voice is nice and clear, however it does not Synch lips with Mike character or any other. How can I fix it?
Thanks for assistance.[:X]

I have a similar problem. I want to use the Kate voice with my PeoplePutty character Flora. I figured it wouldn't work with standard MS Agent characters because the name says No 2D Lip Synch. I figured it would work with the PeoplePutty characters because they are 3D and of a different makeup. Alas, the Kate voice doesn't work there either. Any thoughts?

Shut down Ultra Hal then:
Try running the Haptek SAPI setup program found on
your computer at:
C:Program FilesHaptekplayerdataHapTTSHapSAPISetup.exe
(double click the HapSAPISetup.exe file)
Reload Ultra Hal, select your 3D face and try it again.

Never mind - don't know what I did playing around but it is working now!
EDIT: my problem happens when you use another TTS application.

claude , even if you find ogg on the internet they usually will not work with haptek unless they are converted in people player. once in a rare while you might find one [:X] that will work. i usually downlaod even if it is an ogg and convert to wave then reconvert to ogg in haptek to get the songs i want. hope this helps~~alady

It is included with the latest version of the Haptek player.

Actually, I was able to locate the Hap SAPI Setup.exe.
I ran it, selected Kate for my default sapi...however when
I tested her by clicking speak, I heard nothing :( Nevertheless
I choose her as my default sapi. It seems like the neo speech
doesn't even work in the text to speech reader. However the old
voice does work just fine, Mary, etc. I reinstalled the neo speech
using my CD once again but the problem still persists. None of the
2D lip sync works. Any possible solutions out there? Thanks.

What system are you on?
Do you also have SAPI 4.0a installed? Perhaps that will help.

My system is windows XP. I do have SAPI 4.0. Well guess what?
Neo speeches are now working like never before! I just played
with it a little bit, I ran the HapSapiSetup (Laffi Taffi) and choose kate for default then I restarted my computer, choose neo speech at the ultra speech option and wala! the magic ingredient was at work. For those of you out there, make sure you have SAPI 4.0 installed, run HapSapiSetup.exe choose ur neospeech, restart ur computer and it should work. If not, just play around with it a bit. Thanks!

Just rcvd ultra hal 10.27.06 and installed on win 2K laptop. Documentation shows it should have neosp[eech paul and kate but they don't show up on the list. Have read forum posts abpi hapsapi setup but that didn''t get it. I can see the kate and paul folders.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Hal doesn't come with the NeoSpeech voices but offers them, included with a text program as a plug-in for Hal. Check PLUG-INS on main page.
Hal can use any SAPI compliant TTS voice. A lot of people like the Paul & Kate voices (they ARE very good). There's also Cepstral and L&H as well as many others. The L&H can be found for free. Most other TTS voices are in the $24 to 35 dollar range (there are exceptions).
Basically, any TTS voice that shows in the pull down window (that's been installed in Windows) should work.
-
Maybe I have it confused but thought when I ordered ultra hal it came with them. On the inside of the cd it says
'after installation select neospeech paul or neospeech kate' as your voice in ultra hal tts reader.
Also the cd label says 'includes neospeech'
Plus I can see kate and paul folders have been installed.
Any further ideas appreciated.

Sorry for any confusion. I don't know whether they're included on the CD (my Hal was obtained through download). In your case the voices might be trialware, in which case you will have to purchase them after an expiration period.
If you can see them but cannot use them (hear the speech), do the HapSapiCfg thing as follows and see if that works.
Shut down Ultra Hal then:
Try running the Haptek SAPI setup program found on
your computer at:
C:\Program Files\Haptek\player\data\HapTTS\HapSAPISetup.exe
(double click the HapSAPISetup.exe file)
Reload Ultra Hal, select your 3D face and try it again
Keep us posted on your progress.

Found the solution. If you have bought the ultra hal with neo speech voices, like I did, you need to select 'custom' install, rather than 'typical'.
When you choose 'custom', the option to install kate and paul appears; you select them and they are then available for selection when needed.
-
That's good to know, Steve and I'm sure it will be of benefit to others that purchase via CD.
Let us know how you and Hal get along!

It's been a while, but I have a couple of new MSAgent characters from Guile3D. Apparently, they do not do lip sync in Ultra Hal 6.1 like most MSAgent characters do. Anyone know a solution to this one?
UPDATE: Nevermind, folks. Apparently, MSAgent characters don't lip sync with foreign language TTS or SAPI 5 in Ultra Hal. That's better than CyberBuddy. It doesn't even register SAPI 5. :P
