No Speech in Windows XP - none at all
« on: November 12, 2005, 11:46:40 pm »
I tried installing Ultra Hal Text-to-Speech Reader in my XP machine.  I don't get any speech at all.  I really want to use this program for AOL Instant Messenger, but nothing happens.  It won't even talk when I type text directly into the program window.

When I go to the control panel under the "speech" icon I do not see anything installed except the standard Windows Sam voice.

I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the software twice.

An suggestions?

Okay, I got the program talking by installing SAPI4 engine from Microsoft.  Now, the voice works for everyting EXCEPT AOL Instant Messenger.

Any tips on making it work with AIM?

Thanks...

I am curious to know why you think it should be working with Messenger?

from the Zabaware home page:

"The Ultra Hal Text-to-Speech reader is compatible with the AOL, AIM, ICQ, and MSN Messenger clients."

Everything else seems to be working now, but no speech with AIM.
