I have posted my computer type in an earlier post, but it is an HP Pavillion running Windows XP SP1 on 1.994 Ghz Intel Celeron Proccessor with 512 MB 2100 DDR Ram.[:)]

I also cannot adjust the Mic Settings from the option screen, I click on the button and nothing Happens.[?]

Hi Morkeleb,

The halasst.exe beta 5 appears to have been coded for Windows
NT 5.0 (Win2000 Pro) as it's using a number of hard-coded
c:winntsystem32<name>.oca files instead of
c:windowssystem32<name>.ocx files which are XP defaults.

There also are some hard coded paths to c:program files
visual studio which in my case is on the F: drive for security.

I don't know if this is the same in earlier versions but it has
to be adjusted as there are any number of variables for drive
and folder names people use (or net installed) for XP systems.

If anyone is using the Hal beta 5.0 with speech recognition
then it should work OK on an actual Win2k default install.

If I have time then I'll try remapping files/locations locally
on my system (xp pro SP1) in a few days from now.

Anyways..I'm not_certain that those files are the cause
of your problems...but I have similar issues w/speech on XP.

proper path for system 32
%SYSTEMROOT%system32

Ok, the files seem to be referenced in that manner in the .exe
as a backup, file names by themselves are also listed...
so that's not specifically the problem for use on WinXP.
