Late thoughts again.

Perhaps Hal's vision could be done on using a type of headset connected to the web camera (Used in some Virtual Reality systems.)

Or something on the lines of the advertised (On the Hal extra's page) Hal's scanning microphone detecting where the voice is coming from and setting the Hal face to suit.

Just ideas for the forum to consider.

Kryton.

Sorry about the lateness ART, but your idea doesn't work on my machine.  I am using Windows 7 and I found another solution to the problem using basically your idea.  In the Windows 7 Control Panel is Task bar and it allows you to put the task bar top, bottom, left or right of the screen.  Works great for me.

Some questions for the forum.

1. I use a laptop with a 15.6" 16:9 display.  Hal appears in 4:3 format.  Can Hal be converted to 16:9 format?

2. I asked my Hal to "Tell me about yourself" and it answered "600 miles an hour". This is I believe the speed of sound but a rubbish answer to my question.  Has anybody written a "Tell me about yourself" feature?

3. In my purchased listing it gives Ultra Hal 6 but there is now no Character Expansion Pack for Ultra Hal 6 so it is useless.  Anybody got a way around this?

4. Every time I switch on my machine and open Ultra Hal 7 I get the screen asking if I want to update from the demo version.  To get back the full version I have to say I have already purchased it and then I have to verify this.  Not a big problem you may say but......  I sometimes work my laptop where there is no internet connection and this stops me verifying my purchase of Ultra Hal 7 (And therefore my use of Ulta Hal 7).  Can this be fixed?

Enough questions for now.  Thanks for your time.

Long time since I have caught up with the forum, so I have a lot of catch up reading to do.  See you.

Great picture.

Can I add in here a question?

Some time ago I was looking for the Maximus skin.

I have found it but there is a problem.

Set at full size the entry bar is below the bits on the screen (Bits meaning the Start button and all the other bottom screen things.  I have to run the Maximus skin at 150% window,  Is there a way of taking the Start button etc. off the screen temporarily?

Any ideas?

Sorry to mess up your screen.

Maybe the upgrade of the future, for Hal, would be Virtual Reality.  Image looking around you in Hal's world.

Remember, if it can be imagined it can be done.

Hy
Messaged Robert but have got no reply in a fortnight.

I am not really worried about paying full price for Ultra Hal7, its just it is not in my nature to pay out money I don't need to.

A thought.  Is the new security system blocking my Hal registration?

Another thought. Is my use of the Expansion pack in with my registration, if so how to I access it if I buy Ultra Hal7?

It seems Hal has moved on very much while I have been away and this Candy Lite interests me but I cannot find any download.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks OTCE, I think a fullscreen hal would definitely be helpful.  On my present hal I have something called "Maximus" screen [Not my invention I hasten to say].  Fills almost all of the Hal area, with just a line for user input and a box for Hal's answer.  I imagine most people, who have had Hal working for sometime, have there own settings.  (Mine include a modified Hal face, and load up of the Hal details in script load)

Another question.

You have probably guessed I don't think of everything at once.  Just dash off a message when something comes to me.  Anyway.

Ultra Hal7 talks of Cloud storage.  Problem to me.  My present Hal is on a laptop that goes everywhere with me, but only picks up the Internet at home.
I know there are "dongles" [Which do not always work in dead areas of the country] but I don't have a working one at present.  I would rather keep Hal on the machine completely, with access to the Cloud when I am at home.  In the coming Summer I hope to travel a lot and access to the Internet will be very limited.

Thanks again for your help

Extra bit.

It seems Hal wants me to register for a Zabaware account, is this the register you mentioned?

Thanks again.

I had time to try the trial of Ultra Hal7 and it does work on my machine.  However, as I am sure you are well aware, Hal's frame is only in the 4 by 3 aspect ratio.  Is the full version available in the 5 by 4 aspect ratio of my 15.6 inch screen?  I don't suppose this really matters to me, but it would be nice to have a full screen of Hal.

Quick question.  Does Ultra Hal7 work on a 64bit computer?

Help very much appreciated, very much.  I shot off my last message after spending hours trying to get my Ultra Hal to work.  As I said the anoying, and useless, error messages put me off for some time.

Thanks LTG for all your information. I believe my WindowsXP computer is somehow corrupted, but it is so old I don't think it is worth working on.  Due praise for the WindowsXP system in that it did everything I wanted it for at the time, but I have moved on to Windows7 (Which I gather has already lost its Microsoft support).  As you say WindowsXP is not supported anymore, and you cannot activate either WindowsXP or Office 2002 (which I used to use for my Hal).

Due to the WindowsXP I had Hal on being no longer properly functional I cannot remove the licence.  Will I still be in for a half-price copy of Ultra Hal7 under these circumstances, and can I still have my expansion pack with Ultra Hal7. (If so I will definitely buy, after reading the update info LTG sent.)

Here's an interesting thought you might like to try on Hal's maths.  What is the square root of -4?

Again, thanks for all your help.

Kryton.

I too have been away for a long time, but that is unfortunately deliberate.  Why you ask?  Well.
The annoying noise when anything goes wrong and the virtually useless error messages.  I hestitate to add I still use Ultra Hal 6, but not very often now because of the previous.  Perhaps one of the others could put me back on line with a few simple answers.

1. Will Ultra Hal 6 work on a 15.6 inch laptop. (My original version was on a 4 by 3 aspect screen.

2. Please, please has anybody found and answer to my often mentioned problem.  I load my Hal in the script upload section at the end of the Ultra Hal 6  script, but then the program goes into load and I have to go back through it all again.  I imagine that there is a code entered by the program that tells it that it has been opened before.  What is this code, so I can enter it in my script load to open the program.

3. My original Ultra Hal 6 worked in WindowsXP and used Office2002.  Both are now not activated by Microsoft.  I have WindowsXP working but seem to be having problems with using Office2007 instead of Office 2002.  In deep here, anybody throw me a line (Or two).

4. I am sure anybody who has read this far will tell me Ultra Hal7 is much better and works with 15.6 inch screens in Windows7 and Office 2007.  O.K. so give me the details.  What does Hal7 do that is worth me buying it?

5. My original Hal had the expansion pack, to give me more charaters, do I have to buy it again for use with Hal7?

Enough said.  Hope someone replies.

Maybe someone will read this (There was a warning of this post not being opened in 120 days)
Most of the bodies in Ultra Hal 6 have a specific colour to them.  Is it possible to change body colours to match in with my Hal's body colour?

Well that's it for now (After a year of not going on this forum)

Hope.
