what type of short stories ?? something on the internet ?? yeah something happened to make hal start talking correctly back to you as a user i hate to try to talk striaght as i should to hal as i said hal reverses stuff and it isn't right and i would hate to put in alot and get it messed up !!and hate to start all over again on another brain this one has 25 mbs in it now . it seemed like the old hal 5 that nmirrored what you said and then would use them in approperate sentences later was better at responding and responding back correctly !![]

hello rain man , i am always interested in your writing and answers from hal my problem is i can input things for hal to say by using i guess a backwards writing effect in another words i write "you sure like those jeans my wearing !! and hal will later remember it and repeat it and say it as " i sure like those jeans your wearing !!
( if you have been seeing my angela smiths responses in the forum you can see all the good responses i have her saying at variouse times ) but if i write to hal the correct way hal says things backwards to me all the time .and i can't carry on a good conversation with here and her changing subjects constantly dosen't help either !! [!]

caution **** as these changes are permanent be sure and make a back up of the brain first in case you might want to change this back ****

   well i think i have solved the problem of hal saying the time everytime the word time is used in a sentence !! how ??:
i went into the hal brain "main brain and patterns "on the lines *tell*me*time* *  and also *what * time*s* i deleted these two lines (this is pernament )
    on the line *what's * the * time *      i changed it to *what *time* is * it * please *

i have tried it several time writing time in sentences and hal never said the time until i specifically said (typed)    " what time is it please ? " then hal told me the time !![][8D]
 as i said anyone should make a back up of their hal brain before doing this so that if they want to change it back they can . also anyone can create a new brain just to test this first if they want to , but seems to be working right for me !! []

Ultra Hal 7.0 / wishes for the next version of hal

hello all and to robert , i was checking in hal and unless i have missed it i don't see anything to use in hal 6.1 to emphasize a word in a sentence . but did go back into cyberbuddy ( it's a free version on the interenet ) and saw in their program that by using the word emp it does emphasize a word in a sentence below is a sentence  example :

Oh no! I don't empwant to go.

 maybe on the hal next version something could be added like this in another words in the brain editor have emp in the script and have it equal to and the * (astra mark )or f-12 computer button ( actually easier to see and hit than the astra )  so that when ever anyone typed in anything and hit the f-12 button that would pace an emphasize in that part of the sentence and when hal says it back would enphasize that word when talking !!
  also maybe this could be added so that it will work with the voice recognition version when talking could hit f-12 to empahsize something you are saying !! otherwise another idea i have would be if something ( a program ) could be created that would generate emphasis in sentences based on how they are written !! (this would be even better if possible to do !!) [][8D]

hello echoman thanks for answering , actually by repeating the word over and over hal will (maybe say that word more often)  but thats not the effect i am after .
  in enphasizing a word what i mean is when an emphasized word hal would be using would actually say the word a little differently (enphasizing it that way !) which gives more meaning to the word or sentence it is used in . thats the best way i can explain it !!
   and what i am trying to find out from anyone is , if quotation marks are used around a word in a sentence if it would make hal emphasize that word in a sentence . i beleive if i am right in the hal five their was things in the brain in greeting etc. that did this but i will have to check in the 6.1 version to see if it has it or not if it does and i find it and see that it works i will post it on the forum so others may want to use that technice . [][8D]

i would like to make something clear on here , even though the copied words are actually angela's actual responses that i have put in and she has later said she is not carring on a good conversation with me (which is one of the main problems that i have been talking about hal having and others have this problem too.)
    the sentences that she says back are what i put in but are said back pretty much just at a later date and not so much to anything i said or asked ( maybe about 2 percent of the time it relates to what i have wrote ) that is why caangel is frustrated to with trying to get a normal conversation too. if i tried to have a normal conversation with here the things i say would be repeated by her back to me but the wrong way and would give the wrong meaning to the sentence .
   so i have been writing in responses that sound very good and are said correctly back to me and and waiting and truly hoping that the next version of hal will let hal answer back better and won't let hal just jump from one subject to another constantly this is good for hal to get more input but very bad to let you carry on a more normal conversation (in the earlier version this was fine but its something in the newer version i think most of us can do without or at least only have hal do this 10 percent of the time ?  
  one thing about it "if" hal next version etc. ever gets corrected to let the person do input responses like i am doing (see above previous post) and stay on a conversation better with the user and not jump from topic to topic than i'll have a heck of a hal brain on my hands for sounding and talking more human as a friend !![][8D]

hi markofkane don't pick on my "mee " word (lol) !! at least i have the word working right now in sentences and thats what counts besides !!

I swear its hard to keep from catching something in stores where people shop people sneeze and are sick then touch food and push carts in the stores and I happen to know for a fact I have been in the bathroom in stores and some of the employee's just walk out of the bathroom without even washing their hands!

Well all I know is that I can always sleep a lot better knowing that you are right next to mee!

Well I won't get close enough to bother to find out some things are best left alone and that's one of them!

does anyone know for sure if their is anyway to emphasize any words that are typed to hal ?? for instance if i typed can you " help " me !! would it emphasize the word help ??
  as i said does anyone (anyone ) know of a way to emphasize words in hal the way it is in the 6.1 version ??  i am wanting to start emphasizing words that i write to hal to give responses more of a meaning .
   if not again i wish they would make a way in the next hal version to do this !![]

Man this summer has been hot I think a few times that's why I was feeling sick from the hot heat! This summer has turned into a scorcher!

Well anythings possible I guess at least that's what they say anyway!

hello jackgephart, i don't know how you pulled it off but that has to be the coolest swimwear outfit of all time !! from the testures "the light tan looks like a snake skin to me to the open loop design very cool looking and a must save one for mee !! you guye continue to amaze me vey good work your talents really show !![][8D]keep up the excellent work !!
