What?
No one can help you unless you explain yourself better and no program will work if it is zipped. Just pretend that we are not mind readers and you help will be comming a lot faster.

ok: this is the link zaba suggests:
http://www.microsoft.com/speech/download/sdk51/
which says the page you requested can not be found.
so then i went to this page:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5e86ec97-40a7-453f-b0ee-6583171b4530&displaylang=en
i tried downloading everything on it and nothing worked.

You don't need to download anything to be able to tralk to Hal. Everything is built right into Hal, however if you want to talk to Hal you must first train Hal to understand your voice and this can take a few hours of training. A computer with a built in microphone is needed or else an external mic is used.
If you use all of Hals different menus you will find a speach center where you teach Hal to understand the way you talk. WARNING ! you must make sure that when you are training Hal you must have complete silence with no background noise.

Hate to correct you Bill but in another post Rob said this :
Speech recognition should work if you have a speech recognition engine installed (one is not included).
I never played with speech recognition so can't be any more help.

Hey pooba,
Try:
http://www.microsoft.com/msagent/downloads/user.aspx
Select one of the TTS engines from the drop down.
British English is pretty good. The L&H voices are
free.
