Help me! I have 2 errors with Hal TTS Reader (free version)

Problem number 1:
Whenever I start up the program, it annoyingly makes my "Wave" volume to the minimum, and makes the balance all the way to my left speaker. So when I first ran it, I couldn't here anything! I finally found out that I have to manually make the volume control to the max and move the balance to the middle! Why is this happening?
Problem 2:
The "Save text to WAV" does not work. I get an error dialog saying, "Runtime error '70'. Permission Denied", or something like that. I'm an administrator. I'm the only user on my PC, in fact!!! Why does it need "permission", how do I fix this???[/size=54]
