Help! Errors with program!!!
« on: August 01, 2007, 07:31:43 pm »
[V][V][?][?][?]Help me! I have 2 errors with Hal TTS Reader (free version)
[V][?][?][V][V]
Problem number 1:
Whenever I start up the program, it annoyingly makes my "Wave" volume to the minimum, and makes the balance all the way to my left speaker. So when I first ran it, I couldn't here anything! I finally found out that I have to manually make the volume control to the max and move the balance to the middle! Why is this happening????

Problem 2:
The "Save text to WAV" does not work. I get an error dialog saying, "Runtime error '70'. Permission Denied", or something like that. I'm an administrator. I'm the only user on my PC, in fact!!! Why does it need "permission", how do I fix this???

Hi jeremy.

I think the reason why nobody is replying is because nobody has a solution for you. of course everybody in the forum could post 'I don't know' or 'I have no idea' but I don't think that is needed.

1. are you using a second/third party volume control other than the one windows came with: %SystemRoot%System32\sndvol32.exe

I do recall having that happen with HAL 5 using a 'sound card' volume control while neglecting windows sndvol32.exe, the third party sound volume would on occasion set itself to 'low' volume. I uninstalled the third party sound volume and used sndvol32.exe instead, never had the problem again.

2. I have no solution as of yet for your second problem.

Hey, i have the exact same problem (#2). The only thing i can think to do is re- install, or perhaps re-download. I'm on dial up, so I'm hoping the first one works. I will post when i find something out, but i suggest you, and everyone with the problem try different things.

Greetings,

First off, congrats on the first of many text-to-speech programs I've free-tried with decent voice quality and pronounciation.

PROBLEM: I can't convert to wav.  "Run-time error code '5': Invalid procedure call or argument."

I plan to buy voices, but need this function to work before investing.
thanks
Dave

Congrats on a great-sounding free reader.

I can't convert to WAV either, error code sez "Runtime error code '5': invalid procedure call or argument."

Reinstalled, same problem.

Vista environment.  Original sound, as far as I know.  How do you check that?

thanks for your help!
