Haptek char. can lip-sync .ogg- file

Something I found out. When you drop a soundfile with the .ogg-extension on a Haptek-window your player will not only produce the sound, but your Haptek-character will lip-sync automatically. Perhaps you can make a music videoclip that way or let Hal laugh out loud.

Try it yourself:

[edited may 28, 2005: Apparently this method doesn't work with normal .ogg-files. I seem to have made a mistake. Sorry [:I].

I'll give that a go, would be cool to see hal rapping or something!

By the way, does anyone know if there is a way to get lypsync working with other speech voices. Only a few are available in hal, but i recently got some babel voices and would like to get them working with lipsync.

I recommend these voices, as they are by far the best i have heard.
I suggest people try the online demo at

http://www.brightspeech.com/

also there is a huge (around 200 MB!) demo download on the site if you want to try it out with hal.

You can download a free converter from
http://www.dbpoweramp.com/

You can download a free ogg codec from
http://www.dbpoweramp.com/codec-central-ogg.htm

This allows you to change wave and mp3 to ogg.

It plays in both Hal and in Heptek fine but no lip-sync.

Need to fix this.

Be nice to have your Hal-girl sing you your favorite songs.

As far as I know, the only way to get a lipsync with Haptek is to use People Putty to export the file. According to the guide, it writes the lipsync info to the file header. There might be another way to create lipsync, but I don't know it.
