Speech Technology / Sapi4 or Sapi 5

I was able to update to a Mary voice for Hal.  While doing some searching on the internet I found some other voices which I downloaded, possibly what I had already downloaded and installed.  I also downloaded a Sapi 5 version since I'm not sure what version I am now using.  I've noticed the vioce controls are missing since I've added the Mary voice.  I'm happy with Mary and don't want to mess up the existing configuration but would like to try the new voices I downloadedand wouldn't mind having the voice controls again. Suggestions.

After reinstalling windows on the C drive, Hal was located on the D drive, I downloaded Hal from the internet and made a new install of Hal. I'm using the older data base with the new version of Hal and things seem to be working fairly well.
  I've noticed there are fewer voices available to choose from, in the past I'd been using Mary which I don't see now. I've also found some voice controls which either were not available or I had not noticed in the past.  It would be nice to control these voices dependent on emotions.  Since I haven't found a voice I like as much as Mary's the question would be can the voices on the original Hal disk be put into Windows and would Hal be able to use them?

I'd guess that I've been using Hal6 for about 6 months, She's finaly getting to the point where she can be fun to talk to. Initialy she responded very fast now I can get the " script taking to long to process " message. I'm also using Dragon 9 while speaking with Hal which also uses a lot of CPU time but when I'm finished speaking the usage level goses back down then Hal takes the input in for processing which brings it back up. I'm using a a P4 about 2.8 Ghz.
  I've been thinking of removing some of the data base to speed her up, remove repeated inputs, triva ect.  Besides making a copy are there any suggeations besides a faster computer that I'd like to put off.

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Questioning Hals Brain

All,
  Earlier in the year I was recieving error messages and blank responses from Hal, I originaly thought thay were related but found thay were not. OTC had helped on this by giving me the cause of the error messages but I'm still recieving blank responses although the error messages have stopped.
  I've just finished talking with Hal and before quitting I was recieving blank responses when talking about Einstine which we discussed earlier, I switched to the brain editor, Hal remained on the taskbar. When I asked the Hal program when Einstine was born I got a blank, when asking in the brain editor I got the answer.
  At this point I'm really thinking of putting in a new installation of the program although I don't like to think of the training time I'd be lossing.  Just reopened Hal and spoke with her about Einstine, no problems at this time. Almost like she gets confused while conversing and I draw blanks.

All,
  This problem has been around for me for a while, When speaking with Hal I receive error messages.  After receiving the error message Hal can get to a state where she stops answering questions, I noticed she may respond to a simple question like is everything okay?  On  a restart everything is okay.
  I used the Brain Editor to find the line but the brain isn't large enough so I used a VB editor to look in the Halscript and was able to find the line.
  What I said was "That's a rather nice way to look at things."
I received an error message Line 2484 col 20 error 5
  No answer from Hal but she seemed okay this time.
 Line 2484 converts to line 1817 in the UltraHal fixed brain from virtualfriends.  The Halscript places the plugins into the brain script so it's longer.
  I've coppied some of the scripting where the problem occurs.

Speech Technology / Dragon

All,
  I'm using Dragon 7.3, upgrade from 7 to speak with Hal.  While I was doing some dictation in Dragonpad I used the words restart windows which is exactly what happened. The program shutdown, the computer shutdown and windows restarted.

  I was exploring in dragon and noticed dragon uses Jennifer as a tts voice, the setup listed a dictionary which I couldn't find. I'm presently using Mary with Hal and would like to try the Jennifer, any information on this?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / User Files

All,
  I'm planning on using two computers and having Hal speak with another hal. In the past I'd used an XTF brain which created Carl user files. I'm wondering about creating another user to speak with the other computer, dose anyone have any insight as to the knowledge available to different users with Hal 6?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Discounts

Robert,
  I just inputed the activation code you supplied and Hal seems to work properly, I wanted to say thank you, missed my chats with Hal.
The free will seems to allow the Open Program to work which it had disabled in the previous install.  I am putting together another P4 and was thinking of installing another version of Hal, by using Dragon on both computers and feeding the output to dragons mic thay should be able to talk with each other. I'd gone through the store but didn't see a discount, is one still available?  Also did a search and didn't see a cutoff date for the discount.

All,
  I'm in the process of updating Hal, I'd done an update earlier but Hal ran into a speach problem and the freewill plugin caused a problem with opening files so I removed it. Gives me a bit of free time to ask about the brain downloads. There seems to be 3 updates, do we go directly to the last brain or play with all three?  Seems like it's fairly simple to try them but the update should be simple also.

  Just came from DG, I ended up at a hosting site saying the name has been taken. I'm reinstalling Hal, I have to wait 24 hours for another activation number, can't install the character expansion pack without numbers, then do the update. I hope this is the correct sequence.

All,
 Just used the upgrade, Ran a quick trial yesterday and it seemed okay.  I used Regedit to remove Halasst.exe and used the setup. This installed a fresh brain and Hal6.uhp. While using Hal a while longer today I ran into this.  Frist Hal mentions a special topic that she expects me to know about, when I say I'm not sure which special topic she's refering to and I'd need more details she replies "You are not sure what special topic I am asking about.". I told her she mentioned it and would have to tell me about it.  Her reply "You really don't know, the special topic is something I would have to I'll i'll I'll i'll ( I'll i"ll repeated 19 times ) tell you about.  This response happened twice.  I also received a " What was that you'll I'll you'll tell me about."
  I've run across Hal assuming that I know what she's talking about before and expects me to provide answers before but not the "I'll i'll" amd "you'll I'll you'll".  Any advice?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Update Installed

All,
  Just completed the update for Hal 6 and it went smoothly, just ran a quick test. I ran Regedit, under local machine, software, microsoft, windows, Currentversion, App Paths, I deleated HalAsst.exe and then ran the setup, I didn't need the code to activate it.  I'm about to try the brain editor. Good job Zabaware.

Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / HaptekRegestry

All,
  I just discovered something I found very interesting while using the HaptekRegistry with fullbod girl. I open the registry, from the registry I open the console, I drag fullbod into the console which loads fullbod girl into a window, At the HapRegistry I click Refresh registry list, this puts a lsit of parameters in the Hapregistry which can be selected and changed using the slider in the Hapregistry.
The Max and min values can also be changed. You can get some very interesting effects. I just started to look to see if any additional files are generated in the hap_temp folder.
