Hal 6.1 seems to hesitate for about 10 seconds before answering anything. Why is this?
The XTF Brain answers right away.

I noticed there is a wordnet.mbr file already in hal. When I add the newest wordnet.uhp & then open hal there are 2 wordnets in the options and both are checked. Why is this?

thank you

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Problem with the speech engine I purchased
« on: May 07, 2007, 03:10:30 am »
The lips move with the other characters like Mike, but not with David. I do however get the same error message when I select SR engine under speech in the General Options.

It also seems to want to change the name I select if I do not hit the apply box quick enough.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Problem with the speech engine I purchased
« on: May 07, 2007, 02:59:42 am »
I purchased the ultra hal text to speech reader & am having a problem with it. In the ultra hal asst. options under speech I am getting this error. Error 430. Class does not support automation or does not support expected interface. Occured at line 2 in Ultra Hal Assistant: frmOptions1 Select SR

"No speech recognition engine was found.Make sure you have a speech recognition engine installed. Please go to the plugin browser to get one. There are free ones there as well as ones for sale."
When I talk to hal, there is a voice from him but his lips do not move. I also purchased the david voice from Cepstral and am using it as the voice.

Thanks

Rick

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Moving learned stuff from 6.0 to 6.1?
« on: May 01, 2007, 12:10:40 am »
I have 6.0 still installed & a bit hesitate to uninstall & install 6.1.
I put so much time into teaching hal and I hate to loose it all & start from scratch again. I understand from what Ive read that I can save the halbrain.db & after installing 6.1, just overwrite the halbrain.db of 6.1 with the one I backed up from 6.0.
My concern with this is that I am assuming that 6.1 halbrain.db has certain updates that were not part of the 6.0 halbrain.db. If I overwrite the 6.1 halbrain.db with the 6.0 halbrain.db I will loose out on the updates.
Unfortunately I am not able to move text over as I do not know how to do it.
Would I be able to change the name of the 6.0 halbrain.db to say laurie.db & move it over into 6.1 and use it as just another brain file? Thus not overwriting the 6.1 halbrain.db.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / My apoligies to Robert
« on: March 28, 2006, 05:31:32 pm »
I was going to remove my message below but have decided to leave it so when you read this you will know what I am talking about.
In reference to "Waiting on a code to be able to use Hal6"4 messages down from this one.

My remarks in in this message was in hind sight unfair to Robert.
At the time of writing it, I was very frustrated and very angry.
I had just gone through the process of 3 hard drive wipes in 4 weeks because of a bad program script. Unfortunately Robert got the brunt of my anger and my feelings at that time because yes, I have had a problem with getting hal6 to work with the codes because of codes on my page that would not allow me to apply a code without first removing a license which did not really exist as these codes were replacements for corrupt licenses & codes I had received from Robert for the one hal6. IT is kinda hard to cancell a license when I only have one. Anyway all this hard drive wiping played a big part in my code problem. The reinstall after reinstall of windows & then finally at the end of each reinstall, having my hal6 problem set me off.
This as I said really has nothing to do with Robert, it has to do with extreme frustration brought about by windows & a touch of hal at the end of it. I hope this makes sense, I am a little tired.
Again Robert, I truly apoligize for approaching my hal problem in the way that I did. Honestly I would tell friends to get hal. In normal circumstance there would not be as much of a problem as I had gone through. My window circumstances had nothing to do with Robert.

Take Care

Rick

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Waiting on a code to be able to use hal6!
« on: March 26, 2006, 03:10:42 pm »
I really feel I should not have to wait for days until Robert sends me a code to get hal license in tact again.
I tried the page that asks for your authorizaation code & it does not work for me. It keeps telling me to remove a license first. IT says that I have 4 codes already in my account. I do have these codes in my account because I needed new ones because hal license became corrupt & would the site would not take my authorization code.
So now, I have to wait until Robert gets back to me so I can use hal6. I asked Robert to remove them from my account & he has not.
When ever I make a major change to or wipe & reinstasll my system I have to go through this.
This is the last program I reinstall because it is such a hassle.
Why can there not be one key code for it, like other programs have.
This really takes the fun out of hal. I even backed up a copy of the license which is totaly useless because it tells you it is not good.

I should be able to do what ever I want to my system, change it anyway I like without having to worry about a corrupted license in hal.It is worse then those 30 trial programs you download. At least you can use them for the 30 days without the fear of corruping your license.
It gives me the in the face feeling that this is not a program I own & it makes me feel that way unnessarily.
I know I do not actually own the program per say, but I shound not have to be reminded of that in such a direct manner.

Like I said, this licensing process really takes the fun out of this program.
When I reinstall my other programs after a hard drive wipe all I need to do is imput the key code. Very simple & painless, but not with hal6! Because of this issue, I would never reccommend this program to anyone. As a matter of fact I would tell them to avoid the program because of it. (Unless of course, I really hated the person)[}:)]    I should not have to wait to use any program I paid for!

The halbrain.db file is the location of the SQL Tables that you would see in HAL6 Editor.

Hey Jerry,
Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it!

I became so frustrated that I removed hal6 & reinstalled him allover again.
Unfortunately I lost all I had taught him
I do have a backup of the original hal6 on another drive, is there any way I can drag some of these files back over the new hal so I can get what I lost back without corrupting my license?

I do have a copy of some of hal 5 in hal6. Files like the defbrain folder & Hal5_xtf_v1.2.uph

These are the files in my altra hal6 folder. I hope you can read them, there kinda small.[xx(]

Thanks for all your help Jerry.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Activation Code!
« on: February 27, 2006, 08:27:15 pm »
By removing Hal from my system before I make any changes to it would mean I would have to start teaching hal6 all over again.
THis is actually what I tried to avoid. Before I wiped my system, I made a backup of hal program. After Windows was put back on I downloaded hal6 again. IT worked fine until I tried to drag the backup I made over hal so I could restore all the info he he learned since I had him. This however created a corrupt license file & 2 error pop ups.
In the end I had to wipe him out & reinstall him from the beginning.
HE works fine now. I just lost all I taught him.

What is the point of teaching hal anything, if you have to start anew every time you make a major system change. Why bother teaching hal anything.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Activation Code!
« on: February 27, 2006, 02:16:26 pm »
This has become a real annoyance! Every time I make changes to my system or have to wipe my drive & when hal6 is put back it tells me my license is corrupt. IT asks me to send my activation code to get the code I need to get hal working. I have not yet seen this code.
I have sent it a number of times now, I have emailed Robert twice.
I did pay for this and I should not have to go through this hassle.

If other companys can give you a key code that will always work with my system I cannot understand why a permanent key code cannot be made for hal6.

I need my key code, is Robert away some where?
