Ultra Hal 7.0 / AI ACADEMIC TUTOR
« on: October 25, 2003, 07:14:40 am »
As i was sitting in problem solving class today listening to instructor teaching algebra i starting thinking to myself that AI bot on home computer could probably do just as good a job.  I started envisioning software packages like "Algebra 101 with AI tutor", "Physics 101 with AI tutor.  It would allow students to talk to computer and it talk back and provides step by step problems and even make it fun.  Could AI have a real use and market value ?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / How much will the new HAL cost ?
« on: October 16, 2003, 06:15:14 pm »
i been thinking about purchasing this software...my only concern is the cost of it and if it will be worth it.  I plan on running it on my 470MB RAM drive...i would hope this is enough room atleast for the database.  My main interest would be to program HAL to make it more functional and smarter...i understand that it can be programmed in VB Script and was written in VB.  I write programs in Visual Basic 6.  Would be nice to get source code for HAL :)

Ultra Hal 7.0 / RAMDisk XP 1.7.1
« on: October 15, 2003, 05:16:20 am »
I downloaded a new program called RamDisk Xp 1.7.1 off www.download.com and got full version.  I got 1024MB of RAM and set aside 470MB as a virtual RAM drive.  It greatly speeds up programs and barely access hard drive now.  Thought this might be useful for Hal Users who want quick responses on larger databases...install programs on the RAM like a regular drive.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Distributed AI Programming ?
« on: October 09, 2003, 10:08:14 am »
If i had source code for HAL in VB6...i would rewrite it so that it could communicate with other HAL modules and exchange knowledge databases...this would be default setting but user could turn it off.  It would work like a peer to peer network...i believe this would put much knowledge into HAL..maybe even split personalities ? Look at how sucessful Seti@home has become or www.grid.org with their distributed resource sharing programs.  I'm sure the database would reach gigabytes area in a small amount of time.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / NOW IS THE TIME
« on: October 09, 2003, 09:41:36 am »
i believe that now is the time to push AI for computers and maybe even have it built into windows...i believe computers are reaching a high enough processing power and everything says people want to be able to talk to computer and tell it what to do and get intelligent responses back.  i believe this would be especially good for people who aren't very good with computers assuming that the voice recognition was accurate and made good sense.  Does anyone know if there are databases i can download for HAL to speed up the learning process ?  They should put a feature that automatically uploads what you teach HAL into a central database...then it will become smart fast through everyone's help..i think

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Productivity is the key
« on: October 07, 2003, 06:01:07 am »
i believe that success of AI BOTS will be based on it's ability to integrate into the home and office enviroment freeing the user of the standard keyboard and offereing highly reliable voice recognition.  It should listen all the time for commands but only execute them when it hears it's chosen name.  If no commands are given within an short adjustable of time then it should go back to name listen mode.  i believe that strong algorithms will be needed and very high quality unidirectional microphones along with a multi GigaByte database.  I estimate for no time drag computer will have to be 4ghz(64bit) 4gb Ram.  Most of the database should be loaded into RAM for fast reference....it should work like on Star Trek...Star Trek computer sounding voice would be cool to..."Computer" !  Get me the best route from Albuquerque to Washingon DC....

Ultra Hal 7.0 / IMPROVEMENTS FOR HAL
« on: October 07, 2003, 05:44:17 am »
I have only had Ultra Hal for a day now and i'm already bored but i do see alot of potential...i think the responses are very poor and crude...the database should be in the Gigabytes with responses to be somewhat intelligent.  It lacks much intelligence in grammar and needs to recognize the relavance of what is being talked about. Also, i think Hal should have some really smooth understandable sexy female voices and high res characters.  It should have ability to do common task like check e-mail,compose, send all with voice dictation.  Should be capable of reading yahoo messenger messages, msn messenger and respond back all with no keyboard intervention.  It should be based on "Data" like on star trek.  I think everyone should get together and help build a huge data base that would go to central server for download or purchase on DVDR or CDR.  Also, an strong algorithm for filtering out background noises to recognize speech input is greatly needed.  Getting requested resources from the internet is a great idea but needs much expansion.  Instant access to places like dictionary.com are great ideas or webMD.  Also, would like to see more intelligence to learn and build a database without keyboard input.  I got many more ideas but this is good start
