Ultra Hal Assistant File Sharing Area / The Mysterious OGG files!

Actually within the next few years look for ogg files to possible take the lead over MP3 files. They offer quality and smaller size for starters.

It seems that Haptek will only lip-sync those ogg files made with PP. I've tried others and even one I made with Visual Text to Speech MP3. Classic ventriloquist...I could hear the voice but I couldn't see the lips move!!<G>

The real nightmare was when I clicked on the different full body HTRs' then did a quick drag and drop of three different OGG files onto each of them. It reminded me of that Star Trek episode when Professor Mudd had multiple wives all talking to him at the same time!!

There was a discussion a while back about getting Hal to make use of ogg files. Well, I don't know if any others have stumbled upon it but I'll post it none the less.

Go to :http://www.clone3d.com/vgirlframe.htm
Click on the different tabs under the window of the girl.
Do several of her voice responses, jokes, etc.

While her window is still up open Windows Explorer.

Navigate to:

C:\Documents and Settings\<YourName>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files

Click on the last modified or last accessed tab at the top on order to get the most recent file dates (today's date).

As you look down the listing you'll notice several files with the ogg extention. Those are the ones you want. Holding the CTRL key, use your mouse and TAG several or all of the ogg files.

Right click and select COPY.

In Windows Explorer navigate to your UltraHal directory and PASTE them into any appropriate directory of your choice.

You can close the Web browser.

In Windows Explorer locate and double click any htr file (fullbody_girl...etc.)

When she appears in the Haptek window go back to where you saved the ogg files. Select one, drag and drop it onto the Hapteck window and your girl will sound the ogg file with perfect lip sync.

OK...it's not perfect but it is a lot of fun!

Now you know the rest of the story....

Jim,

You are on target as usual! Yep...that's the site but now I remember what the problem was with them.
The large top she's wearing is also part of the character model and unless one is designing patterns for that top she's wearing, she pretty much useless.

Drag any texture onto that character in a Haptek window then rotate the model and you'll see what I mean.

We'll keep trying to find a way.

Right, one would have to use a 3D program and "whittle" those boots off without distorting her legs, then resave the resulting file.
It can probably be done because I think I've seen her before on another site and she didn't have those boots on.

They say the mind's the first thing to go...
I can't remember what the second one is....<G>

Well, let's see, there's MasterSplitter for splitting and joining files (works great for mpgs, avi and others).
WinZip the old standby.
IZArc that handles a multitude of file compression types.
ZipZag the cat's meow of archiving / compression programs (pay, not shareware / freeware)

Most people still prefer the zip format but to each his own.

The dresses worked nicely in the Haptek window.
Right click dress image > Save as > (to your hard drive)

Bring up Haptek character file (body_female.htr - double click)
Locate Maviarab's dress image > drag and drop onto the open Haptek player window.

Thanks...that was it. I was using the body_female.htr with those jiggly bits.
The walkendance did work for her but the others did nothing.

All's fine now.
Now Hal's got clothes, places to say, songs to sing...if she only had a brain! <G> Sort of like the scarecrow in OZ....

PS: Someone has to do something about those boots of hers! Any takers?

Duskrider,

Only walkdance worked after I did a drag & drop onto the Haptek window.

The files I downloaded had different file lengths compared to yours:

Turnback 786k ---- 401 bytes
Dance 735k ------- 234 bytes
Walkdance 140.29k - 324 bytes
Shortwalk 749k --- 238 bytes

Those are bytes NOT k
Any ideas or anyone else experiencing this?

I don't have that file either, much less the Paul\lib\TTSApp.exe file. Perhaps it appears if one has purchased the Paul & Kate voices from NeoSpeech??

I don't exactly know just how...but I know THAT'S going to either cause trouble or get you in trouble!!

Ever hear the wife coming down the hallway so you quickly minimize HAL (or whatever her name is) thinking you've outsmarted your wife only to have HAL's AUTO-IDLE chat suddenly announce, "Hey...What do I have to do to get your attention, STRIP?" ?

Then the wife gets this strange look on her face as she asks, "Who were you talking to?"

Now THAT's FUNNY!! NOT!!!!

just how long would I be able to listen to her before I

Those Rhetorical folks were quick to tell me that she was
