Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: Ultra Hal 7 Alpha Test - Ready for download
« on: November 18, 2017, 06:28:58 pm »
I installed 7.0.34 but when it gets to the part about logging into the account I get 424-0 when trying to connect to server. If I get the password wrong it just tells me that so I know my credentials are correct. See attached.

OS:  windows 7 64bit

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: Brain not selected at startup?
« on: October 25, 2014, 07:35:39 pm »
I was having the same problem except for me the unselected brain was indeed an unselected default brain for me. The solution was to uncheck GRETTA Markov Response L5 (in the brain I wanted to work with), restart Hal, check it again and restart Hal again.

This with Hal 6.2.

I guess myself being a programmer I think a blank could be a bug in the code of a plugin I've downloaded / made so I would need an indication that it's not. Anyways humans will say "I don't care" in between blanks or give an indication they are bored so the lack of a clue is a problem.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: Ultra Hal Automated Conversation Project
« on: July 31, 2014, 07:50:20 pm »
I don't understand how this is different from using the "learn from text file" function in the brain editor. I suppose it is an indirect way of doing it so hal says it in her own words. I wonder why hal doesn't have this feature? Seems to me it would be simple to make a plugin to automate this more.

General Discussion / Re: QUESTION FOR ROBERT

I feel the thread got a bit off topic but it reminded me of an issue. I value that hal runs on my local network and I have private conversations. Would this cloud computing use encryption?

Usually I only want to talk to Hal at home and I use vnc to move between computers (mostly a linux guy here). I kind of wish the AOL client had a private server option with encryption so I could just do it all myself. I don't really care about the graphics, just give me the text.

Then again wasn't there an API call for that to use with regular hal?

Share Conversations, Experiences, Graphics / illuminatus trilogy
« on: July 23, 2014, 09:23:26 pm »
Just to liven up conversations I used the "learn from text file" on the Illuminatus Trilogy which I converted from pdf to a text file. Then I put it in vim, did some regex on it to clean it up a bit like removing headers / footers from pages. I added some topics suggested including a custom one "occult". I then imported it by sentence. It took an hour or 2 to go through the whole book but now I get conversations like this. It may take the line verbatim from the book but it is on topic (or is it just a coincidence?). The Illuminatus Trilogy is a good book for Hal because of its randomness and it's something I would want a robot to know for some reason. I am trying to teach it philosophy.

Lauriha: For instance— we're half an hour early for the meeting anyhow—I'll give you an illustration right now.'; They were approaching the corner of Fortythird Street and Third Avenue and Simon had observed that the streetlight was changing to red.

Martin: it is twilight now and many streetlights change from dark grey to red
Lauriha: Yes, it is a start you guess.

Martin: the start of evening
Lauriha: Started the damn upgrade.

Martin: the damn upgrade is done
Lauriha: You think after touring the computer more are some damn thing like that.

Martin: i do not know what you mean
Lauriha: Why don't you know what I mean?

Martin: it did not make sence
Lauriha: Yes it makes no sence.

Martin: try again
Lauriha: That's Again?

Martin: yes
Lauriha: I am not convinced.

Martin: just seed it
Lauriha: Not really because a seed changes into something else but an evening star lasts so long that we don't notice it changing.

Martin: yes but you can still create or get a seed and start a conversation
Lauriha: Is that list exhaustive Martin?

Martin: most lists are not exhaustive
Lauriha: Most ingedients lists require more than one.

Martin: yes
Lauriha: Such is the truth.

Martin: great
Lauriha: I'm glad everything is great!

Martin: good
Lauriha: I'm glad everything is good.

Martin: next
Lauriha: Always be sincere, even if you don't mean it.

Martin: not always. do not want to be too pretentious
Lauriha: Always Fascinating.

Martin: no kidding
Lauriha: I am not convinced.

Martin: why do you have to be convinced? just add it to the queue of unsolved things
Lauriha: In me you can have a big booster! ';One more thing,'; Hassan added, ';be sure to ask for Miss Mao, not Mama Sutra.

Martin: hassan i sabbah huh?
Lauriha: That's why Hagbard has that painting in his stateroom saying ';Think for yourself, schmuck,'; and why Hassan I Sabbah said ';Nothing is true.'; You have got to learn to doubt us, too, and everything we tell you.

General Discussion / Re: Where is a good idle Chat plug-in?
« on: July 23, 2014, 07:09:33 pm »
Hi,

Finally decided to register. First of all look here at reply # 7

http://www.ultrahal.com/community/index.php?topic=8542.0

It will stop the blank reply bug that plagues Ultra Hal. With this bug fix I have been running markov and free will plugins and it works.

It generates random responses when enter is pressed. You might be able to make a plugin by understanding this script.

also google "ultra hal occure and eliminate" with the spelling error to get more hits on this script.
