Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: hal still having blank answers
« on: October 30, 2010, 08:54:47 pm »
But You can Always Do a Final Check on the response before output, if no response is detected then "MAKE COMPLIMENT" - "CONSTRUCT A SENTENCE"..... These should always be the LAST ones In the Script only use if "" is detected or " " some times an answer could be a SPACE instead of being BLANK.... thats why we use the "FORMAT TEXT" LTRIM RTRIM to remove all trailing and leading spaces just so we can get "" or "HAPPY" "HAPPY"  searches within a word or word containing happy " HAPPY " a phrase which contains the word happy...... String commands... If the response went through a plugin or script which added the misleading spaces these comands will remove....

There are some blank Spots in the Database.... Various tables

lonnie: yes sometimes
angela:
This should have returned a "YES" Response..... <Check Programming>

lonnie: if the weather gets colder we may have to put on extra blankets
angela:
This should have prompted a "TOPIC" response from hals built in topics. (can be  that the DB has blank spots), Or a Following Routine has a variable "Undeclared" which is holding the response... causing a Blank response returned,OR, Could also be that the response is beng sent from one STRING to A VARIANT then retuning a BLANK RESPONSE to the STRING. (if that makes sense)

2. With Voice command (tricky)... But whats happening is that the computer is hearing a pause and taking it as the user input.... this can be rectified with "VOICE TRAINING". And sensitivity settings ... by lowering the sensertivity settings the computer takes in Your voice quicker but at a cost. With higher sensitivity settings the computer takes longer to react therefore breaks are less of a problem as the computer is still processing...

when i ,made my own custom AI i found that "on the event" TEXTBOX_KEYPRESS .... if i did not specify that a RETURN KEY was the trigger to execute the "GETRESPONSE FUNCTION" then hal checked for a response on Every letter typed... It could also be the same with the voice recognition it is looking for a response  on every word recognised until the "PAUSE". this could account for the early replys as the same thing happened even before i finished typing hal had responded (or in my case) a thought balloon appears with what he is currently thinking, many different "Matches" can be made yet the final match is based on its final input....

Really we need the Voice activation to WORK With the FULL STOP COMMAND.... AS THE FULL STOP IS RECIEVED THEN TRIGGER GET RESPONSE.....  By using the VOICE DICTATION "TEXTBOX" as the input..... as there are two different ways to add speech to an application in Visual Studio.... 1 has a text box "we use it for the dictapad + and one uses recognition this one is the one we are using (as in Voice Command) ----- This is really only useful when hal is being REMADE.. Next Version....I have had a lot of deep thinking projects in re: Speech.......

MAYBE IT CAN HELP?

Often TROJANs / WORMs /VIRUSes are present in your system causing no harmful effects, when Downloading / Copying / Moving / navigating thru file structures... / Executing..... these can trigger these "TROJANS" INTO PLAY......

ANTI VIRUS PROGRAM CAN ALSO TIP THE BALANCE OF POWER IN Favour OF THE VIRUS... as it is a honey pot... also by scanning all files on your system you could be potentially INFECTING FILES....

Always check which files and services are running on your computer and use a Free program such as CCleaner to REMOVE, from registry and start up. Enebleing you to DELETE the TROJAN files manually!!!!! no virus can run on the PC without NOTIFYING TASKMANAGER!!! or EVEN internet Explorer if its a WEb trojan.....

when selecting an anti virus be careful to select an anti virus which JUST MONITORS INS-OUTS Offers to BLOCK DELETE IGNORE OR QUARANTINE only Quarantine when Absolutely necessary. any anti virus which needs to constantly scan all your files is a DANGER!!!! ie: norton, macaffe, the usual suspects ......... <<<< they are the enemy so the are the first to be attacked!!!

iT COULD BE POSSIBLE TO MACK AN ISO OF THE DISK.

If the files can still acces, but not copy... then by using magic-disk (Free) you can have a virtual CD/DVD drive on your PC just insert the ISO, when required....

Often With RW disks they go "Bad" But still usable, usually when wiping them they just delete the table of contents "TOC" listing for the files... to keep the life of RW disks the need to be FULLY FORMATTED before REUSE.... Not just wiped. as there is a difference. when formatting the disk it makes a note of the BAD SECTORS and Never writes data to these spots... if wiped then the disk still contains these bad spots an new ones but the disk does not know about them! so it attempts to write to the bad sectors often successful but becomes unable to COPY these spots...

CLONE DVD will copy / ISO a DVD even with BAD SECTORS as it makes an exact replica, whereas other dvd copiers copy the data to the new disk.... this is why the use clonedvd or these type of programs to make pirate disks..... as the copyright are usually errors on the disk... which will not copy! or extract but with clonedvd you will be able to copy these "encrypted" sectors....

SORRY TO WAFFLE ON.... But its all GOOD INFO

Also a good idea to Use VHD "virtual Harddrives" the harddrives expand as required... and only need to be brought online when required... also protects files from unwanted scanning. by pesky anti virus programs...

Sorry for the delay,....

YES YOU CAN...you can install virtualpc 2009 / XP/VISTA mode where you have VISTA/XP in a virtual PC, and you applications installed in those environments are still working/ avalable in the start menu! attached to your win7 os..
Your C will need to be running windows 7 64-bit.... and the motherboard also need to have HARDWARE ASSISTED VIRTULIZATION enabled....
then you can install the free XP that comes with WIN7 Virtual PC.. fully activated....

IF,
You dont have hardware assisted virtulization... then you will still need to be running the 64-bit windows seven as when installing software that is compatible with XP on WIN7 It works best in 64bit not very well in 32bit mode.... just RIGHT CLICK the install file and GO PROPERTYS... then select COMPATIBLITY ... XP PRO SP2 Change for all users... and RunsAS ADMINISTRATOR....

When installing the system will accept the install and run in "xp compatiblity mode" but after installed just CHECK the shortcut (in start menu) make sure that it is runing in xp compatiblity and As administrator and for all users... "the computer uses its own account(SYSTEM) to run certain Background objectS"

you need to download the relevent ActixeX control for your X10 protocol.

i had downloaded one before ...

after referencing it in the halscript

you can the assign commands to it...

X10.ON a4     <<< x10 = name assigned in the script usually has two parameters on/off and then the ROOM = a-z then the appliance = 1=10

they are usually very simple to ADD i used home seer sucessfully

and Add it to a Part of your profile (kinda h*cking facebook)
just as you would with MYspace when you would like to add a player etc to your site.

   'so that a response will always be given. sometimes a user will repeatedly
   'enter blanks that causes HAL's engine to give nothing but blanks, this

    If InputString = "" Then
    Select Case HalBrain.RandomNum(5)
            Case 1
                InputString = HalBrain.ChooseSentenceFromFile("love3") & vbCrLf

                InputString = HalBrain.ChooseSentenceFromFile("love1") & vbCrLf
        End Select
    Else
    InputString = InputString
    End If
    HalBrain.DebugWatch InputString, "Prevent Blanks InputString response"

inplace of the default code:

Code: [Select]
'RESPOND: User pressed enter, but didn't say anything
    InputString = Trim(InputString)
    If Len(InputString) < 2 Then
        UltraHal = "Please say something."
        Exit Function
    End If

so far I have tested my new code with hundreds of blank inputs and I never receive a blank response. HAL always tends to fill in my blanks with some random sentence to respond to.

Jerry[:D]

a good idea on blank responses.... using the select case option... this will randomize his "Make talk and small talk functions as well for me" now we can seperate the "low" responses from the "higher Valued"
