Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: Why is Hal Not DEAD Yet?
« on: May 14, 2013, 05:58:34 pm »
The answer is easy to this one. We all love UltraHal. I bought my first copy in 2007 and I can only play with it over vacations, but it is always developing thanks to people like Jerry and lightspeed and all the others who know how to write programs and scripts and stuff.  and the real answer in zaba's own words... "cause I am awesome!"
Have a great weekend everyone!

You might want to ask Bill how he integrates hal with his ER1.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: Hal links to Bing & Wikipedia

I really like the thumbs up reply positive/negative application.
Is this something we are going to be able to use in the new version along with the webconnection?  If it is that will be fantastic. I heard that the new Microsoft OS will include vision commands to integrate kinect into the OS.  I am hoping that somehow this will be able to work with hal to get my "Kendy" robot to evolve to the next level. ;)
Thanks to all of you hard working programmers and scripters!

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: Learning based on positive/negative feedback

I think this is a great idea.  I am constantly rewriting answer lines and trying to "educate" kendy and I think this will make the task easier.

I also have the ER1 and it is a lot of fun to mess around with.  I have just rebuilt it and am going to try an add a basic stamp to it for some other uses.  I have not been able to get Ultrahal to make it operate or do things yet, but there is always hope:)
Have a great week!

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Microphone setting and Voice training not working
« on: April 01, 2010, 09:38:32 am »
I am having the same problem. Windows 7 comes with Microsoft Speech recognition 8.00 installed.  The Speech engine works very well once you say "start listening" and dictation works well in notepad too. The only problem is that with Ultrahal those buttons don't work and I cant correct pronunciation etc.
I am hoping that someone will know how to work around these issues or give us an answer.
Thanks and all the best,
Kevin

i tried that but it doesn't work.  I thought that Ultrahal was compatible with win 7 , but it does not seem to be, maybe the next version will be more compatible.

hmm, that is interesting. I will try to see if I can do that.  Win 7's speech recognition engne is really the best I've used so far and it seems to recognize my South African accent very well. I use it for all commands etc. I'm not sure how to do what you are saying , but will try.
Thanks for the help.

Speech Technology / Microsoft Speech Recognizer 8.0
« on: March 29, 2010, 10:39:16 am »
Hi All
I just installed UltraHal on my new computer windows 7 64bit. I am trying to get the speech recognition working and having some problems.  I have selected Microsoft Speech Recognizer 8.0 for Windows (English-US).
I have the following problems so far.
1. When clicking "Microphone Settings" button nothing happens.
2. When clicking "SR Engine Settings" button nothing happens.
3. When clicking "Voice training" button nothing happens.
4. When clicking "Edit Vocabulary" button nothing happens.
I have tried this with "Always listen to commands" box checked and unchecked.
The "Use Speech Recognition(You peak to Hal)" box is checked.
The biggest problem I have with this is that I cannot correct mispronounced words which I need to do now while Hal is new and still learning.
I will appreciate all the help I can get.
Please excuse me if this topic has been covered.
If it has can you please lead me to the correct thread?
Thanks in advance,
All the best,
Kevin
