Title: need help changing some things
Post by: pantsman on November 18, 2004, 05:49:10 pm
ok. this has to do with the AIM bot part of hal.

WHen i start it up it always displays the message "Hi, i am an AI bot named Hal, would you like to talk?" or something alone those lines.

Anyways, anyway i can have it say something different when it comes up other than me having to type the same thing in all the time?

Also, anyone know were the file is to change its responce to the question "who created you?" because it says the name of the zabaware person and i was wondering how to change that.

thanks

pantsman,
Go to Hal's Options Menu and click the Startup tab and either click/unclick "Say greeting during startup". You can edit the startup message or disable it entirely.

The "who created you" is embedded in Hal's software. It can be bypassed most of the time. Robert Medeksza has a right to be proud of his work, but here is a possible work around...

User: If who created you then God created you. (type exactly as shown)
Hal: I understand the connection. (or something like that)
User: Who created you?
Hal: God created me.

Try it out. It will overide the default Hal response most of the time. Special mod's to Hal's script are needed to ensure your response is always used.
