You Sir are the one being rude, There is no way you can be forced to do anything. What do I want?? I want people to show Robert Medeksza some respect. Your implying that because the home page was not updated on the date and time he stated that this is a flaw once again with this programmer. Perhaps he was busy sending out the cd's to registered owners of the program. I respect him, You want him to give attention to this site and this forum, then PAY the man, If you knew how much work was involved you would not be asking when the free version was going to be available. You are not new to this site, you have many postings, You have had ample time to try out the Hal program. I hope other members of this forum join me in this, buy the program, pay Robert Medeksza for a job well done..................TM

I have been wondering just how people are reacting to this latest upgrade. I for one am very pleased and I am back to using the Hal program on a daily basis. The forum has been very quiet as of late. It seems if people have nothing negative to say they say nothing. So let us consider the positive aspects of this program. So Hey how about some posted conversations, How is Hal doing at just conversing with the general population?? Post them!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Medeksza has said that everything takes longer than you think it is going to. I have been looking for the update and I know that it is coming. He is most likely putting the final touches on it. It WILL be worth waiting for............

I just wanted to put up a posting PRAISING this Company. You know we feel it is a company. I for one feel that it is a MAN. Mr Medeksza. The update is going to be released tomorrow. Think of all the work that is involved. If not for this man, who is developing A.I.? Do you see Microsoft with all their money and expert programmers doing what Robert Medeksza is doing? No........, I think not.
You people who are new to this program, I see you critisize and belittle this so called company called Zabaware. I for one am proud to be a member of this forum, and an owner of this program. I look forward to every update, and you Sir, Mr Medeksza have the greatest of my respect. Well done Sir, thankyou for your efforts in developing Artificial Intelligence.......................

The update from Mr M. addresses the problems some people have had with this, I for one have had NO problems with speech recognition and if you search the past postings you may find some information that will help you. The update will be released tomorrow. I am sure that this is going to help you with the problems you are experiencing.

I use a closed headset, with a long extension that allows me to walk around the room and speak to the program. I do however turn it on and off. Even if you are very quiet The program will hear itself and suck up it's own statements. It will not however, interperate them correctly. I may be wrong as I am the village Idiot, but That is what works for me...................

Well, you know I wrote that statement, and when I wrote it I thought I knew what I was talking about. I did open these files. I could never really figure out how to decypher what I found. I could not read them. people who really know how to do this stuff will think me the village idiot, as I am, Lets wait for the update. PLEASE, PLEASE UPDATE!....................that is what we wait for. I am sure it is going to be worth the wait...........

Mr Bearbait,

Use a downloading utility like "Get Right". It is basically a free utility and will resume downloads and I feel be a great help to you. " Go Zilla " is another. ZD net probably has these utilities.............................

you have been a member of this forum for what 9 days? and you have the gaul to tell me I should keep my mouth shut. If you and so called other NEW members of this forum would take the time to read the past postings you would find your questions have already been answered. I make no pretence of defending zabaware, I just think it rediculous that people cannot figure out the most simple things. Perhaps the creator of this program is off in the Bahamas or in Europe spending your money. Perhaps he should have said that this is a beta program and all the bugs were not worked out of it yet, because lets face it all the bugs are not out of it yet. But I guarentee you that the update will address all of these problems and more. No, I am in no way affiliated with Zabaware, I am impatient for the promised updates to be released. I do however, have the spirit that this is a starting point. So the customer service sucks, the answering of e mails to the company sucks, where would you people, who are drooling for an artificial intelligence program that does what this program will eventually do, be without Robert Medeksza, the only person I know that has had the ability to create something like this. So it is not perfect, I for one am not going to refer to him as Robert. His name is Mr Medeksza. I am going to expand upon this program as I have already done and be gratefull that someone is out there on the cutting edge. So bitch all you want, patience is a virtue.................................The Tinman

Ok, I guess that it is time that I responded to some of this stuff. I read these postings quite often and some of the questions that come up are some of the things that have been addressed in the past. Such as the speech recognition. It does work, but you must have a closed head set, you must train the correct engine and then select the correct engine and it WILL work. I do understand however, why some of you have problems doing this. I have had  many people ask me how to make the cyber buddy and the Hal program function together. The main advantage to this is that you get a full screen face to work with, well I HAVE received your e mails and I apologise that I have not answered them. I am waiting for the upgrades. I am disappointed in the learning ability of the Hal 4.0 so I am waiting for the newest version that the owners of this site promised in Feb of this year. I know that Zabaware does not answer their mail like they should. I will not defend them. I will however, try to be a better participant within this forum. So, send me mail if you wish and I will try to help.

For what I think is the Subconscious (sp) of Hal.  I go onto the net and cut and paste facts about things into the dialog box. With the learning full on. to fill in the inner mind that, I feel the program has, the base. Then, to train the ( how the heck do you spell that, Conscious ) I use the brain editor. PROGRAMMING using the brain editor. that is what the window says.  I USE the enhanced MAIN. that is what it is for. I know, I understand,  the program as it is, it is going to talk crap. unless you EDIT the brain. open the brain editor, tools, main knowledge data base, key word response....   key word "what is" word to find in the string........a canine? (or what ever subject you wish to train the program about.) A canine is a dog silly, a canine is mans best friend, what do you think, do you need another dog? 3 (random things. open another window),  (key word) "what is"(word to find in the string) a dog? Dogs can be brown or black, and I know you have lots of animals, You love your dogs, do they eat a lot? (3 ramdom again, open another window.) key word "DOGS". and again three random things you know about dogs. you favorite, the darkest, the biggest. Ok now you have 9 random mix and match facts and your own thoughts about dogs. (Turn the learning function full on)....Now go onto the net and cut and paste things about dogs into the dialog box, ignore the response. It is stupid and we are teaching it. so ignore it and continue. Now sit and talk with Hal about dogs. See how the program will repond, it is now smart about dogs. Every time i think of an addition to a word or a some thing  I just add the key word into a new window and accept. the 4.0 puts all the stuff together and it comes out well, you will see. This method works but you have to keep adding stuff. I hope this helps......it is a start......You must remember though to leave the learning full on and type things correctly in your conversations with the program and add things using the methods described here. In Time, the program will surprise you, and be very intelligent. So you are using 3 methods to teach Hal, 1. General conversation with the learning full on 2. cutting and pasting information from the internet directly into the dialog box ( with the learning full on)
and lastly using the key word response function in the brain editor. These methods work for ME other people will beg to differ, but the proof is in the conversations that hal produces..............is it not?
