Just a quick thought, has anyone tried changing the hair model morphs on the full body characters? I don't think this can be done with peopleputty because it can't load the full bodies. I'm usually the kind of person that can solve a puzzle, but I cant figure this one out.

antec2,

If I understand your question, changing hair is a matter of loading and unloading items.  Most hair is just an HTR file (except for the ones on textures). I think PeoplePutty calls them accessories. This means you will need to unload the default blonde HTR, and load the hair you want. Here are some examples:

1) default full body
2) remove hair using "delperson[figure= hair5_9EXP]"
3) load short dark hair using "load [file= data/standard/skins/hair7_exp.htr]]"
4) or long dark hair using "load [file= data/standard/skins/hair6_2EXP.htr]]"
5) load blue glasses using "load [file= data/standard/skins/bluehip.htr]]"
6) or green glasses using "load [file= data/standard/skins/morehip.htr]]"

Just place the commands after your "settexture..." commands in your normal haps (neutral, shy, and shylove in XTF1.2).

Hope that helps.

virtually,
Joseph

P.S. I would love to find a long, dark hair HTR if anyone has one...or red hair, or whatever. Thank you.

archerja,

That is amazing, I was just thinking about building a Latino model and was wondering how to change her hair LOL. Thanks very much! Also I am still hoping for someone to change those boot morphs. I have been trying, but have had no success.

Hmm...That being possible, is it also possible to change the full-body model's face? Here are some textures from Kate to experiment with:

That is exactly what I was thinking. Change the face&hair and you will basicaly have a new model hmmm...

Right now I am preparing to buy a computer with an AMD Athlon 64 chip
and 256mb video card.

Once I have those setup the skins will be far better than Hal can fully represent! Learning the various morphs seems to be the next step.

archerja,

Are you sure that command line isn't :
 load [file= data/standard/skins/hair7.htr]]

It is the only one I could get to work.

Dreadstar, do you have the Haptek SDK, People Putty, etc. I assume that you have to have the .htrs for the hair on your pc to load them. It would certainly be worth someone's effort to learn to make different hairstyles, too, lol. The three in Archerja's post are the only ones that seem to be readily accessible, but it seems possible to make whatever style, color, etc. you like, if you know the process.

KT/All,

Notice on the robot hosting site if you click the first face, you'll see that they have managed to get rid of those large boots! Her full body is also extremely flexible (don't go there!!).

Thanks for pointing that out, Art. I wondered how they got the (apparent) bibs attached to the floating heads, but never realized it was actually the full-body figure. Now, the next obvious(to me) question is how do they manage to reduce the file size of the figure? I've had to abandon any thought of using the full-body figures as avatars on my Alice sites because by the time you've loaded the figure and texture, you've consumed about 1.5 Mb of bandwidth, and although I have a couple of gb of monthly bandwidth at my sites, it doesn't take a great many page loads to chew a big hole in it, at that rate, lol. The Maria.htr is only about 300kb. I've noticed Mark Chavez has large and small fb figures at the Clone3D site, but since it turns out that he's a professional computer animation specialist, it's not surprising for him to be able to do things others might not be able to do. But apparently reducing the filesize is something else do-able if you know how. I'm sure if it's something that doesn't require special, licensed software, some of the geniuses around here can figure it out, lol. This would likely be helpful for Hal use as well, as it would load faster and consume less system resources.

KT,
I also noticed that there are a variety of commands, one of which allows the Haptek full body character's feet to "stick" in one place or "unstick" which I gather is why the Maria figure seemed so "flexible" (her knees bent backward if moved quickly).

As for the boots, it looks like he just applied texturing all the way down to the tops of the shoes.

And for the ladies or those interested in the group, there is also a full body male character in the Haptek directory sub folders.

Yes, the size is an interesting proposition. Notice on that site one can click the maximize rectangle for a full screen display! Now HAL would be really cool with that feature!!

Back at ya later...

KnyteTrypper,

About that site, they probably have the commercial tools from Haptek, or they had Haptek design the models for them. That would be my guess anyway.

To All,

I was reading in the Haptek guide about Attached figures. You can query In the command console about what figures are attached to the parent figure. But it started to get late , so I did not finish. Maybe with some more investigation. I also seem to remember a command that released the parent figure from all attachments. However I believe the boots are either added as another figure (Like the Hair) or are in the mesh itself.

Art/All,

The reason maria.htr is so much smaller is that it is not the body_female.htr, but probably the demo.htr that is in the UltraHal characters folder. Body_female is about a meg, while demo.htr is only about 385k.  Demo.htr doesn't have a skeleton to speak off (which is usually a {filename}.phy file, I think). Demo.htr also doesn't have the structure to carry all the abilities of the body_female.htr. For example, the hair is not a separate HTR file, but a small jpg.  It also doesn't have a full texture file.

A good way to check this out is to start an HTR, then go to "C:Program FilesHaptekplayer". There is now a "hap_temp" folder that the HTR is expanded to.  It has all the files that the HTR is made of (an HTR is like a zip file, but I think they use bzip2 instead).  When you close the HTR, the folder goes away (unless you crash the htr, or place a text file in the folder). By looking in the folder, you can see exactly what is loaded.

Hope that helps.

Hello to everybody!
I am a Spanish boy who is making the final project of engineering.  I have to make an avatar and I tell to you: I am using the Haptek technology to make it and now I'm in this situation: I have maked some different faces with people putty.Ok. Now I have the male and female full body file from haptek. Ok.How can I change the face to the full body with my own faces? How can I do something like Tara?I have seen photos of Tara down in this page and I like it much. Can I change de body??Make a body more discreet...
It is very important for me please!!!!
Someone who can help me???
I would be very pleased if someone can help me in the construction.
Thank you very much and see you.

I downloaded a fullbod.htr from the digitalgirl files. She comes with a framed glasses that I wish I could take it off but I don't know how. I could easily take it off from the console screen by typing: delperson[figure= NameofGlasses]    If only I know what the specified name was for that glasses? Does anyone know what her glasses is called or how to unload it?

P.S. I know I can use other full bodies but fullbod.htr happens to be very convenient with many hap files...such as position haps (sitting, leaning, laying, etc)
