General Discussion / Re: People Putty questions
« on: January 20, 2011, 09:59:15 am »
Nige,
I read your post.  I am running Windows XP home.  When I change the file extension from .haptar to
.htr, I get the warning.  When I go to file types and look at the .htr, it says "Haptek player document" and
at the bottom, it says open with "haptek player standalone"    If all of this is correct, than I have another
problem.  Do I have to have the "haptek player" in my zabaware folder?    I don't have it in there.
Thanks for the screenshots.        If the .htr file is suppose to says "Opens with" habaware or ultrahal,
then I need to change it.  Thanks,
Bill

I tried changing the file extension and it didn't work. I was looking at the store here
and it talked about a "character expansion pack"    It said that would unlock using other
People Putty characters.  Do I have to have that?    Don't really care for the eight figures
that come with it.       I had People Putty save the file in the character folder of UltraHal and
then changed the extension to .htr.  Either I am missing something or I need that expansion.
Thanks,
Bill

Thanks to everyone who answered the questions.  You convinced me to buy
People Putty.  Putting a picture in was a lot harder than I thought. So, I made
my own person.  I saved it, choose htr. and then it was saved in projects under
Rosa.haptar but not as .htr.   To use it in Ultra Hal, it has to be an .htr file right?
I thought I could just go into People Putty and open it again, but I can't find it.
Not sure what to open.   How do I make it save it as a .htr file?
And I couldn't find a full figure person.  (any of the basic shapes, not sure how to
do that?
Right now, I would like to get my rosa.haptar changed into a .htr file.
Thanks,
Bill
I want to add that I tried changing the haptar extension to htr but that didn't
work. I put the htr file in the main folder and under char. file with no luck.

General Discussion / People Putty questions
« on: January 17, 2011, 09:53:27 am »
I have been to the webpage and their forum is down.
I have tried the demo and it has expired on my desktop. I put it on my
laptop with Windows 7 but it keeps locking up.

I used microsoft agents for Hal and it is hard to get them to look just right
with Poser so I thought I might try People Putty. On the webpage, it mentions
FullBody figures and it shows the stock fullbody pictures. (I am not crazy about
them), but it does mention that there are tools to change them. Are they included?
(the tools that is) and what can you change?
Can you use your own facial picture on a full body figure?  Or can you use a full body
picture?
I haven't been able to find a good tutorial on people putty and the website is pretty
generic.
Thanks,
Bill

The housekeeper looks great.
Had to have to ask this but please remember I am a early baby boomer.
Was this made with People Putty?
I have been to the website, but really couldn't understand a lot because they
don't have a tutorial.  It said you could use a picture.  I usually use Microsoft Agents,
but I wanted to make a figure for my grandkids to play around with.  So, it has to be
more in tune with them.  I have downloaded the demo before, but got lost. I will try
it again.
Thanks,
Bill

Thanks,
I think that I have tried it before and if I remember correctly, it
seems complicated.  I will have to try it again.

General Discussion / Any other programs like Hal?
« on: August 31, 2010, 03:28:20 am »
Since I purchased Hal, it has been fun trying to teach him things.
I was wondering if there were any more programs out there which you
could download and use your own agent?
Thanks,
Bill

Ultra Hal 7.0 / New MSAgent
« on: January 20, 2010, 01:09:50 pm »
Yes, I bought a desktopmate a month ago which
works fine for me. My grandkids think the program
is cool and I was wanting to make an agent that
was closer to their age. You don't find many agents
like that.  I am going to keep working on the palette
thing. My main problem right now is around the hair.
I have psp7 and pspx.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / HalScript error
« on: December 28, 2009, 12:23:21 pm »
Right now, the problem seems to have been solved.
I had a created a new Brain which I called NewBrain (very original).
When I first started getting the error, I took the .db file and
the .uhp file completely out of the folders. Then, I uninstalled
and re-installed. But I was still getting the error. I checked
the log that it made and it mentioned, "NewBrain". I checked the
folder and there was a NewBrain.db file with no .uhp file. The
new NewBrain.db folder was only 3kb in size. I deleted it and
restarted Hal, but again, it created that folder and gave me
the error. Finally, I moved my NewBrain.db and NewBrain.uhp back
in the folder and restarted and now I have no problem.
I do not know why it was creating the NewBrain.db file to start
with since this was a reinstall. It was not showing this file in
the general options. The only brain there was the original hal
brain.  Anyway, it seems to be working now.
Thanks,
Bill

Ultra Hal 7.0 / HalScript error
« on: December 27, 2009, 12:28:03 pm »
I keep getting this error message. It pops up every minute or so.
I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it, but I still get
the same error message. (It has popped up twide since I have been
typing this)

Halscript error 13 on line 4591 in Column D  type mismatch "CDBL"

Then it goes on about something being saved to debug the program.

Anyone know what this could be?    I even tried to do system
restore with no luck. Was theresomething left on the computer
when I uninstalled it?
Thanks,
Bill

Ultra Hal 7.0 / What is locked in the trial version?
« on: December 26, 2009, 12:01:40 pm »
I have the trial version and still have 27 days left. I am trying
to hold out until after the new year to purchase it. I am
having a blast with it.  So many things that I have read have
to do with versions before the newest. In the Brain Editor help
file, it talks about opening tools. In my Brain Editor, there is
no such tab. I was wondering if it was locked, or if it is not there
for this version. (I tried making some changes, but they didn't
show up)  So, I was wondering what was locked in the trial version.
Thanks,
Bill

Ultra Hal 7.0 / New MSAgent
« on: December 25, 2009, 08:32:51 am »
I tried working on it this morning before everyone gets up
and it becomes hectic. I exported my image from Poser as a
PNG. I then created a new image in PSP7 with a solid color.
I pasted the png to the new image, merged, reduced colors,
and then set the background color as the transparent color.
I checked where the color was on the palette. This worked.
I know that I didn't have to go thru this much trouble a
few years ago, but if it works, it works.
Happy Holidays,
Bill

Ultra Hal 7.0 / New MSAgent
« on: December 24, 2009, 04:10:03 pm »
I know that it is Christmas, so maybe sometimes after
Christmas, somebody will have time to look at this and
tell me what I am doing wrong. I did my work in Poser with
a green background. Imported the image as a jpg and then
opened it in PSP7. Changed the colors to 256. In one case, I
clicked on the image and set palette transparency to a certain
number. Seems like it was 132. I did this for all images.
And in another case I did not set palette transparency. Didn't
matter because after I built my agent, the background was still
green. (I know something was said about a mask, but in PSP7,
all masks are grayed out.)  I have done this about ten times.
When it shows the transparency color, the default is a dark brown.
I can change it to a green, but it still has the same results.
I didn't see how to find a number like the 132 that I set. I will
go back and check it. Finally, I tried white and it worked fairly
well except when you move the agent, the white is not completely
transparent.   Any suggestions in the next few days. I going to
take a break because the grandkids will be over soon.
Thanks,
Bill

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Animations and MSAgents

Thank you, I will in the meantime do a search for
scripts here. Where do you place the scripts?
Thanks,
Bill

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Animations and MSAgents
« on: December 24, 2009, 12:44:12 am »
I searched this topic on the forums and all the posts were
from several years ago. Just downloaded the trial version and
plan on buying it at the start of new year. (Have to survive
Christmas first) I also have a desktopmate MSAgent. She does
go thru several animations during our talk.
Is there a way to program into the Brain or somewhere else
a certain animation.  I have been playing with the Brain Editor
and thought there might be a way to make a MS Agent do something
like "DoMagic1" with a certain question. Or response.  In the
previous posts from years ago, I couldn't find anything, but I
thought maybe by now something would have come up.
Thanks,
Bill
