Havn't Used Hal In a while CD Problems

OK,
     I Tried to use my Ultra hal Assistant 3.0 Cd but it will not install on XP. I tried using Compatability and still wont install. Grr! now I see 5.0 so I loaded the demo. But do I have to buy another CD to get the new full version? I thought it was free upgrades for life. Someone help please.

Upgrades are never free,however, if you recently bought version 4 then you only normally pay for shipping for version 5. Loading from a CD can be difficult if anything is running in the background. On my XT I had to shut everything down including my virus checker before Hal would load error free.
