Hi all,

Hope one of you guru's can help me out here.

Wanting to try and submitt my HAL9000 skin to the official plugin section but cant seem to get it to work when testing it myself.

This is the error code I'm getting.

Error 76:
Path not found
Occured at line 17
in UltraHal Plug-in Installer: Form1.Form_Load

this is my Plugin.dat file

HAL9000
C:"HAL9000.uhp"
C:"SkinsHAL9000CLOSE.jpg"
C:"SkinsHAL9000MIC.jpg"
C:"SkinsHAL9000MENU.jpg"
C:"SkinsHAL9000MIN.jpg"
C:"SkinsSKIN.jpg"
M:Installation of [name of plugin] is complete.

Anyone tell me where I'm going wrong here please.

Thanks in advance.

you need to keep the same path structure in your plugin folder as is used in the haptek folder.

ie plugin folder\skins\your.jpgs

mirrors the

haptek\.....\skins\jpgs path.

does that make sense?

Otherwise double check your file names.

To clarify:

you should have a plug in folder like this:

plugin folder\
.................containing dat and uhp files
.................skins folder\
.................................containing jpg files

This matches the layout at the bottom end of the Haptek folders and the plugin will know where to put things.

Thanks freddy,

sort of made sense yeah, I appreciate i need to keep the directory but even with the following I'm still getting the same error code...

HAL9000
C:"HAL9000.uhp"
C:"SkinsHAL9000CLOSE.jpg"
C:"SkinsHAL9000MIC.jpg"
C:"SkinsHAL9000MENU.jpg"
C:"SkinsHAL9000MIN.jpg"
C:"SkinsHAL9000SKIN.jpg"
M:Installation of [name of plugin] is complete.

(Back slashes between "Skins & the file name" missing)

As this is a player skin for Hal then the "sub directory" is "Skins"

Its probably something really simple I'm overlooking as its late here and I'm getting a bit groggy lol.

So, according to this...where exactly am I going up the creek?

All you need to do is put all the files your Ultra Hal plug-in needs into a single folder.
If you are installing to a sub folder of Hal, you must keep the directory structure.
Copy the setup.exe from the plug-in installer into the folder. Next you need to make a
file called plugin.dat that looks like this:

Name of plugin
C:"file1.uhp"
C:"defbraindb1.brn"
C:"defbraindb2.brn"
D:"NewFolder"
C:"NewFolderfile.brn"
M:Installation of [name of plugin] is complete.

The first line is the title of the plugin.
The next few lines start with C: which mean copy.
The files listed under C: will be copied to whereever Ultra Hal is installed.
Be sure to include quotes. In order to copy to a subfolder like defbrain just
write C:"defbrainfile.brn" If you need to create a new subfolder you can
write D:"foldername" before copying files. At the end of the file is
an M: which is simply a message displayed to the user after installation.
After this is done all the files should be put into a zip file so that it can
easily be downloaded.

Any idea's be greatly appreciated.

Yeap that all looks familiar to me.  The only other thing I can suggest is checking you've got all the mic/volume/talk... elements still in there.  I found that removing them gave me an error report - it might even be the same one.

It doesn't like to play without a full deck, even if you don't use the mic/vol buttons etc.  Mine was rejected when I removed the reference to the mic.jpg, even though I didn't put it on the skin.  I just gave it a path to one of my jpgs, but positioned it someplace where it couldn't be seen.

I worked it out by looking at Dr Benway's (unknowingly at the time(thanks!)) dat/uhp files in one of his skin plugins.  Perhaps he can lend a hand here.

Thanks freddy for your time and help.

I'm still sure (now I'm a little more awake) that I have everything correct but it must be something I'm either doing wrong or have overlooked.

DR.BENWAY......pleeeeeaaasssssse help. [:)]

If all else fails I'll just zip it up and submit it anyway and hope its accepted without the installer...after all i think most ppl here by now know how to install a player skin?

Thanks again for your help.

Maviarab, I am trying to figure out why your skin is constantly rejected by the installer. In other words: I'am experiencing the same problems. I will email you when I have it working.
