Speech recognition response delay
« on: August 15, 2015, 02:27:35 pm »
Hi guys,

Has there been any progress on creating a way to change Hal's response time when speaking to him? Right now he has a 5 second delay before he gives a response. I've built a robot that uses Hal to have a conversation with you.  When i demo it to other people they like it but they always ask me why he has a long delay. Its just to long of a response time and makes it feel like a scripted conversion. Please, please create a way for us to be able to change the delay time. I'll pay more for that feature!!

Thank you

Hi KNIGHT2000 , GLAD TO SEE YOU HERE on this forum to , as i might have mentioned on the other forum hal as you now see has a 5 second delay , it is i personally believe set up that way to give users a "chance?" to add or correct something when typing to hal .
I had brought up the very same question before on this forum a while back about Robert or someone creating something that would allow the users of the program to be able to set their own time delay for how hal answers back  .
I had asked this when doing my own "bodied " a.i. work . and even a video with voice recognition and response .
for people typing to hal the 5 seconds works fine , for other robotic etc. the delay seems to long even though 5 seconds .
I think this is something Robert will have to do within the programming .

Thanks for the reply. I totally understand the need for a 5 second delay, you want to make sure the user has completed what he or she has to say. I just wish we could write a plugin to mod that. I tried searching through the code but I wasn't able to find anything related to the delay. Its probably buried in the exe or dll files.

I would suggest just waiting a bit longer unless by the time I caught up here, Robert has answered your question. Check my post Date.

I would love to see your robot that you created. Do you have a website for it?

well the entrance page looks good. For some reason it won't let me enter once the page loads so all I see is the first page of it that says knight rider top secret.

Don't know what browser you're using but with Firefox, mine clearly showed a rectangle displaying the word, ENTER right below the Top Secret portion.

BTW, That is one serious build especially for all you Knight Rider fans out there!!
In the world of AI it's the thought that counts!
