Ultra Hal 7.0 / Hal at start-up
« on: January 06, 2002, 01:22:08 pm »
I have noticed when starting my computer, I get an message saying Hal wasn't shut down properly. When I get through with Hal I always exit the program. The program runs fine other than that message at start up. It's not really a big deal, but if anyone has any ideas that would be cool.

How do I create UHP text file. Do I need some sort of file editor? What is a good one. When I figure out the text file, the rest seems pretty simple.

I'm having the same problem. When I first loaded the program a few weeks ago it would read any file. Now I keep getting error messages. Says, having error in line 47 or something like that. What message are you getting?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / New characters
« on: December 11, 2001, 12:36:14 pm »
I've seen some posts where people want to make new characters. Is anyone done this yet? This may sound like a stupid question, but is there any way to change a .acs file into a .ocx? All of the msagent files seem to have the .acs file name and the character files in the hal program have .ocx. I know it may sound pretty silly huh? I know I'm not a programer, but hey isn't that the way things get answered by asking silly questions?

Now that I got all of my problems fixed, the program works GREAT! I'm having alot of fun teaching it. My kids think its neat to hear the computer talk. I'm wanting to teach it math to help my son. I've tried alot of other programs, but this one by far is the best yet! good job Zabaware, keep it up.

« on: December 11, 2001, 12:02:11 pm »
Hello everyone, I have great news. **** The program has loaded correctly and is working fine! I have no idea what happened to make it work. I've already used alot  of the features to make sure they work. I did get one error message, a file couldn't be found. apigid32.dll, Other than that no errors! I want to thank everyone for all there help. I've seen some pretty crapy post about how bad the program sucks, and all I got to say is they don't have a clue!

Thanks again

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Error, hal won't run
« on: December 09, 2001, 11:57:20 am »
I ran system checker several times, no errors. yeah, right! Something has to be wrong. I can remember having this program on my old computer a long time ago and it worked, maybe this computer doesn't want to run it. In another forum someone posted that I might be missing halasst.lgc file. I looked for this file and it is no where to be found. Is this the missing link? maybe? anyone? Help? please? anyone?

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Best site to download from
« on: December 09, 2001, 11:45:35 am »
I searched all over my hard drive, was not found. Medeska had me goto ms web site and download the files, they loaded under windows on the hard drive. A funny thing, I downloaded a program called cyberbuddy that would install msagent and speech engines. The program loaded and worked fine. Before I downloaded any files I noticed I already had msagent and other files installed, that's what isn't making sense. I can download other programs that use these same files and they work, but ultra hal asst. doesn't. Why?

I looked for the file halasst.lgc, but I didn't see it. I looked in windows, app data, there was no applog. Where can I get this file? OR do I already have it and just don't know where it is. When reinstalling I delete everything that has to do with the program.
