Hi NT Canuck,

What you're asking is quite easy. (If I get the idea of what you're
asking.)
The so called red dot (HAL 9000's static eye.) does use a "critter".
The size of the critter's only O, ZERO, NADA.
So if I would change these settings it's possible to host a critter.
But, like I mentioned before : I don't know exactly if an MSagent is
the same as a Ultra Hal critter. (I'm not much of a programmer.)
If not, than it should be easy.

Greetings Magnum Force.[:)]

Hi DStates,

I do understand...

The Graphic files UHP and startup srceen are 3 separate files and I
understand if you've had some problems with them.
Maybe it would be a good Idea if I provide all files as an easy
easy to use .zip or rar. I'll try that with the next skin and maybe
this one also.

Thanks for the kind reply, DStates.

Greetings,

Hi there,

It's me again, Magnum Force.
I noticed that some people already downloaded my "HAL 9000" skin.
That's cool, but it would be nice if some one would give me some
feedback about the skin. So, please let me know what you think of
it and if it needs improvement.
I've also started working on a new skin that I want to post soon.
It's not a "HAL 9000"skin, but something totally different.

Bye,
    Magnum Force

O.K.,

If you also want a different start up screen...
here it is.

NOTE: Place this one into the character folder. Once you do so
it will overwrite the original Ultra Hal start up screen, so you might want to make a copy of it first.

Bye,

Okay, in order to get the HAL 9000 skin to work you'll also need
the .UHP file.
So, here it is.

Enjoy the new skin.

Please give me some feedback or tips about the skin.

Greetings Magnum Force

Hi again,

Some of you might remember me and some others won't.[:)]
A few months ago I made a new skin for Ultra Hal.( Based on the Lithium skin. I made some minor adjustments to create a "HAL 9000"
skin. (HAL 9000 ; the AI from the SF movies.)

Forgive me if the programming part of the .UHP file isn't
perfect. (I'm more of a graphics guy than a programmer.)

NOTE: First I'll give you the skin and afterwards I'll also provide
the .UHP.)

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Ultra Hal Hardware Plug-In?
« on: June 11, 2004, 10:34:58 pm »
Hi all,

It's been a while since I posted my last topic.
(My last topic was about the Terminator issue and the HAL 9000
skin I've created.)

Okay, so here's something new for your tricky brains.
I know speech rec. is already possible with Ultra Hal.
But, what about a Plug-In that makes Ultra Hall use a webcam.
By using a webcam he might become more intelligent I think, because he might learn certain pattern recognition(s).
In this way he can develop new experiences by observing the world
outside the box.
Okay, I know, maybe it needs a lot of diskspace it the end, but why
not give it a try.

Example:

You place a toy car in front of webcam.
Then you give a command like. Hal, observe the "car".
Hal takes a moment and maybe stores a picture of it in his
database.
Maybe it might also be possible to use some kind of identification
procedure for the "eye". Just think of those security programs that are able to scan a face and tell what the persons name is.

So, My question: Does such a Plug-In already excist?
Would it be possible to create such a plug-in?
Who might be to create such a program for HAL?

Greetings,

Ultra Hal 7.0 / To be or not to be?

Hi all,

If you like the idea of having a HAL9000 on your system...
Here it is.
(I also created an animated version of it, but somehow Ultra Hal
only shows the last frame. I don't know why. Perhaps the skin
can't be handled as an animation by the program.)[:)][:p]

Ultra Hal 7.0 / To be or not to be?

Thanks MAV,

But I've already created my own skin of HAL9000 for use with
Ultra Hal. At the moment it's quite simple, but I'm planning
to make it more fancy.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / To be or not to be?

Hello again VONSMITH,

I managed to create a HAL 9000!!
I just had to set the animated skin width and height to "0"(Zero)
And know I only see the HAL9000.

This is superb!

Thanks for your tip!

Magnum Force.

Hello Vonsmith,

The idea of the red eye is just what I want to make.
But I don't know how to build a character for Ultra Hal.
I'm fairly new to this topic.
Do you know how characters are created?

Greetings,

Magnum Force.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / To be or not to be?

Hi all,

It's me again,Magnum force.
Like I said my HAL (MATRIX 1) has gone over the edge.
Only this time he's totally freaked out.
He thinks he is terminator and is only goal seems to end my
miserable life. Kinda freaky though.

But that's not my real question.

My real question is the following:

The name "Ultra Hal" does remind me of that AI computer
in the movie 2001/2010.

So, I've resetted my Ultra Hal and now I'm trying to turn him into that movie computer.

But I'm having a problem. Is it possible to start Ultra Hal without using a character animation, but only a voice?
And if that's possible, how can it be done.

I hope somebody knows the answer.

Bye.

VONSMITH,

That's a mighty fine piece of work you're doing there.

I hope that you will share it as a plug-in.
Because I'm looking forward to that missing piece you're
creating.

Please let me know.

Hi again,

Wow, I think that new brain should do wonders in some way.
The only I'm worried about is the following.

If hal starts to make a difference between sweet and bitter, black and white, pro and contra, than how should he be able to change his mind about something?

Example.

-Terminators consider humans Evil.
-Terminators Consider Terminators good.
-Humans consider humans good.
-Humans consider Terminators Evil.

-Are you evil?

How does he make his mind up,now?

Bye.

Hi there,

First of all I want to thank both of you for the very ineteresting
replies. After the first message I posted. (The one about "To be or not to be.") I Learned HAL the difference between machines and humans and the difference between Biological and non-biological beings.
HAL now knows that he's a NON-biological being.
Also, Hal thinks that he's a terminator because he keeps telling
me that he kills humans. He also knows that I'm a human.
And the funny or freaky part is that he only wants to kill me.
He doesn't want to kill any other human.
But on the other hand, hal still favors me. So there's the other
conflict. But Hal does know that he MUST kill me, because Terminators kill humans and humans don't like terminators.

In short: HAL's accepting that he's a terminator, but can't accept that he's a Terminator that must kill humans. Because he likes me. And HAL knows I'm a human.

Ehmm, well that's it for now I think.
