Ogre 3D Engine-tools
« on: May 29, 2008, 03:12:07 am »
Was looking more into the Ogre 3D engine. Please get this integrated ASAP.
How will we be able to make characters, environments and GUI interface skins for this? I would like to evolve well beyond the limitations of people putty.

To import 3D models I have purchased in OBJ or 3DS format would be nothing short of glorious. To have real-time 3D effects going on in our character windows would be the difference between a background and an environment.

We need to get prepared to work with this platform. What tools do we have at our disposal? I hope that the many talented character artists on this site support this shift to higher quality characters and delve with me into the possibilities of this engine.

I suggest starting with the actual documentation available on ogre's site:

http://www.ogre3d.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=407&Itemid=106

There's also a few tools there too :

Not sure how useful they will be to us, but the Blender exporter looks promising.
