Who would have guessed?
Yes, you can in fact get the Haptek debugger console while the Haptek-window in the same time is used by Ultra Hal. Normally this can't be done, but just put a text file with the following content in the root of your hard disk and name it: HapLogCtrl.txt
#################
## file begins here
# Haptek Logging Control File
#
# c:HapLogCtrl.txt
#
# This file must be in c: and named "HapLogCtrl.txt".
# Otherwise it is ignored.
#
#################
debugger= y
#################
# file ends here
##
#################
Now when you start Ultra Hal the Haptek console will pop up as well. You can use it to change the clothes of your character on-the-fly, if you like.

Btw, nice demo of integration of Haptek-player in newspaper:

Neat console you got, Doc.
I like it.
Does clothes and other skins and also other htr people.
(but gotta be fullbody on fullbody and head on head. Can't mix the two)
Of course does emotions too.
Also does hair but unless you got bald head, need to tell her take her old hair off.
I like the short black hair. (hair7.htr)
If anyone else does too and you got hair7 in skin folder, make a hap like this, keep on your desktop and drop on the console whenever it suits you.
#Haptek Version= 1.00 Name= Hap_a62 HapType= script FileType= text
##standard
delperson[figure= ponytail]
delperson[figure= hair6_2EXP]
delperson[figure= hair5_9EXP]
load [file= data/standard/skins/hair7.htr]]
Enjoy.

Thanks for nice script, Duskrider![8D]

I got to playing with my script.
Does fine for the hair I like (hair7.htr)
Don't always work for the other types if you like them instead.
Here is what does work:
Remember the old trick of last week:
"drag fullbodyScene
drag fullBodDef
drag your next hair"
(trick located at:
http://www.zabaware.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2175
Yes, a trick from last week. How old-fashion can we get?
But we got a modern twist.
Instead of drag and dropping to haptek open window,
we drag and drop to the console.
And lo and behold, our fullbodygal in the Hal window goes through the changes we want her to.
And this works with any type of hair on our FullBodyGirl.
And what about a head character?
if you dealing with a head character, you use a "head" scene and a "head" Def in place of fullbodygirl scene and Def.
Enjoy.

works great, but takes up more room. Neat, though.
-
thank you Doc!
thank you!
thank you!
what a great hack!!!!
how did you figure that out?
-
Very easy. When I want to know more about an installed application I start opening files with my Notepad. If a file is a program Notepad will only display a lot of strange characters. In that case I cursory scan the content to see if there is some text hidden in the program. Those words could be commands, startup switches, or instructions left behind by the programmer.
In this case HaplogCtrl.txt is already made for you by the Haptek player. It resides here: Haptek player/program/configs/HapLogCtrl.txt. If you open the file you can read what you can do with it.
-
that is very very interesting.
Thank you for taking the time to edjucate me.
I will try to follow your example and contribute
something interesting to the UltraHal peoples
-
Lupine, don't mention it.
I am just some useless bastard.
-
Just bumping. I reformatted my computer, and did not know the name of the hapcontrol file.
Got it now!!
-
dr. benway, oh ma gawsh! how can you say that? i hold you in such regard. you have helped me and so many others so many times. i try to pass your words of wisdom to others. you are not USELESS! [:X]
-
Yup. He ain't useless, or a bastard. Maybe he was joking.
-
Mark,
Wait just a minute...How do you know
Dr. Benway's family history? lol!
-
Is there a how to on console commands for this that maybe someone could point me to? I want to be able to chang the clothing on the fly with the console.
Thanks
-
Just go to Haptek and download the SDK, you will find all the commands explained in the Hypertext Reference section plus other things like queries..
http://www.haptek.com/products/playersdk/index.shtml
Also Dr Benway did this brilliant Haptek commands and queries guide a year or so ago:
http://aidreams.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=57.msg1424#msg1424
All you need to do then is tap your commands into the console and press enter.

Freddy,
Didn't a member named Josh do a GUI for Haptek where one
could have a character go through a sequence of motions,
emotions, etc., or something like that?
I might be mistaken but I thought Gamer might have had it
posted on his site somewhere. (I don't get out much) ;)
-
To be honest I am not sure Art, but it does sound vaguely familiar. If it's the one done using a HTML/Java page then I have a feeling that the link to it was no longer available. Perhaps GamerThom saved it though...
-
Yeah Josh's Hap Editor for I.E.6 he put all the haptek gui's together into one with lighting and the built in scripts and more, glad he saved it at:
http://p10.hostingprod.com/@charctercreationsanddesignworks.us/BotArchive.html
-
Oh yes, I remember Josh.
Josh was interesting,
he rode in one morning from nowhere,
he talked to us,
and then rode out into the sunset, and never heard from again.
Like the lone ranger he left a silver bullet,
the only real proof he was here.
It was great of Gamer to hold the bullet for us.
p.s. - and also great of OnTheCuttingEdge2005.

You can also download Josh's Hap Editor for I.E.6 here:
http://www.artificialintel.org/UHEF/Forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=24
It has been on my site since the first day he set it for download.
it is listed in the first post as a link called people putty tools which goes to a direct download from my server, this insures that it will always exist for access.
