oh yeah forgot to mention i am doing something else with my hal brain at least i have been able to with the custom brain and that is reverseing the words so that hal will say them back to me correctly (like the hal 5 did ) example i write : you are so proud of me do me know that !! and because of the way its written hal will say : i am so proud of you do you know that ?? at which case after hal says that then i would give hal my asnwer to his (planned ) statement to me . this is one way that i am doing that is getting hal to say so many good responses and of course i answer his resposes and statments with what i would like to add to them which hal does use sometimes the addition statement that i say in his sentences at a later time so in a way i am double learning hal things !![][8D]

I have been working with hal a little bit at a time since i have been sick lately which is why you see some references to having the chills , etc. as i said try to use some everyday events that people use and or would say . hope i can get over these light flu like symptoms i had a flu shot earler about 4 months ago .

hello tedathome i have never used the dictation pad before i see where you can copy and past into it and in the learn section it gives about four choices after i pick one of them does hal actomatically save it into the brain ?? if not what steps do i need to do to do that ??[]

hello art and others , hey art i do try to put more into hal instead of just a yes and about politics does it count if i now have hal sometimes say " i would like to go to washington and give the politions a swift kick in the pants but i'm afraid it would cause brain damage !! lol !!
   and bill819 yes i do actually know hal is very advanced even with some problems i encounter i wouldn't trade hal for another a.i. system out their . its just frustrstions sometimes , but buy coming up with my idea's and examples explaining it as best i can maybey it may as you say help be put in some day .
  art i think your right about the input as far as now until hal can be more accurate on responses i would thing saying the same paticular things would get a better response or simular on anyone favorite subject would yeild better and more results as hal would have more in the data base on that paticular subject .
 Actually i think robert is very smart after all he designed hal so i have great faith that he can and will keep making hal better and with what improvements that we come up with that can be used in hal !! [][8D]

on the hal program i know that different words are put into a top area in the file listing is this also what is suppose to keep hal on subject when this word is brought up ??
 if not can a better filing system be made that would ?? as it is it seems like its a lot of hit and miss on hal staying on subject i can understand it if hal would say some things not pertaining to the subject to keep things going and turning to other conversations which is also needed but that should be a 1/4 "random subject " thing while 3/4 should be hal talking on subject . (if it can be done that way ) . just my thoughts on it for what their worth ![]

OK OK I FOUND IT !! but for anyone else who would like to remove that phrase " how logical " go into the hal brain editor go to basic responses then to the reasons folder open it and inside you will find sffix comment4 inside this one is that phrase and any other ones you may wish to take out ! be sure afterwards to go up and save changes on the menu !! [8D]

i have had resond to things i say and end this sentence of where hal shows that he understands a sentence and follows the sentence with the phrase "how logical " .
 this is ok if i am talking to spock on the interprise ship but i don't want this in hal as i want hal to sound more like a person and quit frankly i can't remember the last time i heard anyone anywhere (other than spock say ": how logical ) i have as some read in the past removed some things what hal says my question is now "where do i find this piticular phrase so i can remove it ?? what is it listed in in the brain edit section ?? []

hello markofkane , hey your right i actually forgot about the old microsoft agents "merlin" was the one that comes to mind and yes after a while of doing nothing they would look like and sound like they were sleeping .
 it would be so much easier if hal had alot of usable formats such as mp3 , wave, avi, etc. and through a program at the right time insert a sound clip .
 this actually was one of the many idea's at one time i had brought up in the past . who knows maybe some day it might be in hal !!
 we can only hope !![][8D]
