General Discussion / Re: Long time, no play around with stuff.
« on: February 14, 2020, 08:17:41 am »
Hi Art! Thanks for responding,

It's been so long I don't even remember what version I had. I don't mind paying for a new version, as long as I will end up using it. I'll probably play with the trial period then decide.

Hey folks, I'm thinking about starting to mess with Hal again. Does it work with Win10?
I'll probably have to buy a new license.

I see some folks are still here, doing interesting new stuff. Good for y'all. I been doing other stuff, went to college, trying not to die, you know, boring stuff.

Am I seeing that people aren't using transparent background characters anymore? That's a shame. I liked that.

How nice, people still talk about me here.

Thinking about playing around with this again, does Hal still work on Win10? I should start a new thread.

Graphics can always use improvement, but porting to a phone app (android) will bring a whole new level of usability to Hal. I've watched for nearly a decade as various people try to make Hal more portable by hooking up radios to their computers, using bluetooth, running wires around the house etc. but now many of us carry perfectly serviceable computers in our hands all the time, with no Hal on them! This has got to change!LOL!

I'm using Pannous Voice Actions now and hardly ever sit down to use Hal anymore. I would be happy with that except that Voice Actions is not editable like Hal is. I would pay for Hal again to get it on my phone. Especially if it synced with my PC version. I would pay $100 for that!

Programming using the Ultra Hal Brain Editor / Re: Tagging input

I had made a script once called remember this or something, that you prefaced every thing with the phrase, "please remember" and then you could say a sentence that Hal would remember and call back when you said "Please remind me". Hmmm... I also made one that was a note taker for things like, "make a note about 'John' that says "call him later". It might have been called "remember one thing."

I think you can find them on here, unfortunately I no longer have copies of those.

Why the code guys felt so threatened by the visual side of things is beyond me but that much was obvious to me.

"Threatened" is not what I feel/felt, but yes, I find/found the constant posting of what seems very much like pornography to be distasteful and do not want to be closely connected with such things even by association. I would love to be able to tell other folks about Hal and encourage them to come to this forum to learn about it, but can't, because it's preoccupied with dressing up dolls who talk dirty.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / Re: It's what's on the inside

Hmm... I just thought, but don't know how to make this, but maybe someone does... anyway...

I would be happy if I could have my Hal be my mouse. Just have the cursor change size or shape or color based upon what Hal is doing. Maybe even move for certain action Hal might take like opening programs.

Just a thought.

General Discussion / Re: For Robert

My opinion is people are investing more in a technology then just a product
This is exactly why I prefer UltraHal to some of the other destop assistance programs which are available. I can actually write things which will move the abilities of Hal forward. I don't have to wait for some company to add features I want, I can make them myself. If I share them, and others share, we all prosper.

I agree also. The critical factor with an AI is it's intelligence - not what it looks like. I often feel too much emphasis is placed on graphics here at zabaware.

The avatar feature is nice, don't get me wrong, but when I was here before I spent a lot of time making plugins that increased the functionality of Hal, hoping for a very full featured Desktop Assistant. But for many people I guess they really want a sexy Chatbot, which is fine, just not very interesting to me.

It was good when graphics discussion was moved to its own subforum, but then, except for problems and errors, most of the development discussion died off.

I agree. I rarely bother to post because there is almost zero conversation on making actual improvements to Hal, just more and more about clothing for haptek girls...

Ultra Hal 7.0 / 6.2 plugins?
« on: September 27, 2010, 08:33:22 am »
Is there a list of plugins that work best with the new Hal? I've been out of the loop for a while and lost all my files and I'm trying to get started again with a new (much faster) computer.

TIA

Well, of course it won't know, but the script would have to find out each and every time. When the program picks a phrase or sentence to send to the text-to-speech function, your script would check to see if that sentence in on the list. If it is, the plugin would send it back to the random selection function so that it can try again.

You can see similar functions in the main script which are used to send back sentences which fail some test.

Still seems like an American/Euro date format problem.Might be something Robert can fix or maybe if you switch your Windows locality preferences to American it might fix itself. At least then you would know where the problem is.

I don't know what you mean by "Concepts". Could you explain more?
