Happy Thanksgiving all.  :)

This will be the first year I won't be having Thanksgiving dinner at home. It's just me and my brother now. I used to fix the meals every year, thanksgiving and Christmas since my mother couldn't do it anymore.  Then she passed away in 2004 . But hopefully I and my brother will join father in the nursing home for the T-Day meal.

Lightspeed, that's a good idea, it would be nice. Google says Thanksgiving doesn't exist outside US (except in
Canada, but at a different date, lol).

By the way I'm in France and some years ago, they tried to import Halloween, but it never worked very well. :)

gt40 although the day is almost over here . you could (if you don't know the tradition ) look it up on what all is cooked (don't know if you are married or not , i have the worlds best cook can cook from scratch even !) get the ingrediants invite some loved ones or friends telling them you are trying out a u.s. tradition "thanksgiving day" have evryone fix their plates sit down and before eating say a prayer (if religious)  then everyone tell what they are thankful for , then enjoy the meal and friends etc.after the meal some people watch sports on tv or a movie, later   see what they thought of it and if they all had a good time invite them all again next year same day ! and a tradition can be born! :) ;) i hope you can do it , it's a nice tradition! maybe others will tell others and the tradition will spead! :)

Lightspeed, thanks a lot for taking the time to explain the tradition. The only thing we know about that is a 10 seconds TV report, every year, with Obama and his turkey.

Very nice tradition and no need to create a new official national holiday (we have enough, lol). It could be a local private special day, just for good friends and family (I must ask my wife before, she's the cook here and I hope she will agree).

So good to add new fun days to our lives. Thanks again for this wonderful idea. :)

hi gt40 one more thing then i'll leave you alone about this i just wanted to post this link to wikipedia explaining thanksgiving.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving
as you said it doesn't need to be a national holiday for your country but can be a private time for a nice tradition with family and friends, if you don't have much money if others are joining you for the meal feast see if they can chip in which will make the cost easier on everyone!
take care my friend!

Thank you Lightspeed for the link. And thanks for your piece of advice about money. With Christmas coming soon, my credit card isn't feeling very well. Of course I will invite you for free. ;)
