Im a programing major and i want to know what steps should i take as far as stepping into the feild of robotics?[}:)]

If you want a career in robotics (as in "industrial robotics"), consult with experienced professionals at your campus. Getting random replies from interested laymen like myself is a good way to become distracted. This is a forum for discussing a software "bot" that has little or nothing to do with actual robots.

Not that you can't discuss that here... just that (I believe) nearly everyone here doesn't make money from building robots... you want to get information from people who do make money in that field.

I would suggest you to visit www.robotinfo.net

You will find a lot of links to sites, videos, books, etc.
There is also  a section which lists the most important robotics kits, which are very useful if you want to enter this field.
