Error with HHCtrl.ocx
« on: April 04, 2007, 01:21:24 pm »
Two of the latest Microsoft Security Updates (KB925902 (MS07-017) and security update KB928843 (MS07-008)) introduced a bug for Windows XP users where any application that uses HHCtrl.ocx (an ActiveX control used to display CHM help files) would not load.

Microsoft has released a HotFix to resolve the issue. The hotfix makes several references to "RealTek HD Audio". However - the fix is related to the commonly used ActiveX component: HHCtrl.ocx. Disregard that the hotfix mentions RealTek Audio. The Hotfix will work even if you do not have RealTek Audio installed on your system.
From Microsoft:

Install this update to resolve an issue where the Realtek HD Audio Control Panel may not start after you install security update KB925902 (MS07-017) and security update KB928843 (MS07-008).

I did not have a problem, but yet downloaded the update. The update caused my Windows Media Player screen to be blank if I opened WMP by clicking on a song file.

So, I used Go-Back to fix the problem. (reverted to a time before the update)

So, don't install the update unless you need to.[:D]
