GamerThom, our experiences look much alike. Haptek claims to be a large company, but nobody knows what they are doing.

Let me react on this potential dangerous subject.

On the first place I think we all realise we are indebted to numerous other people on the Internet. Everybody here is building on the work of others. The fact that we usually don't find the time to thank each other doesn't necessarily imply that we are not grateful.

When it comes to Haptek I like to tell you that we, the moderators of Digital Girl-forum, have been negotiating with Haptek the last months and are becoming increasingly disappointed in the results. I am getting the impression that Haptek even don't want us to buy the software they advertise with and which we asked for repeatedly in the last months. This may account for our current lack of shown interest in anything that has to do with their products.

I will tell you more when the negotations are over. [xx(]

How did you discover they were scammers, Jerry?
I am serious. It might be beneficial for everyone to hear what the dangers are when you respond to some of these requests.

Ultra Hal 7.0 / New blind Hal user needs help

Do you mean when you press the character A on your keyboard you will hear Hal say "A"? If that is the case than I think the Zabaware products can't do that. You need to download another program to have something like that.
But perhaps I don't understanding you correctly.

What amazes me is that the Angelina-face keeps looking different every time you make adjustments. You somehow can't go wrong with her.

General Discussion / Version 2 of the Sexy Chatbot

Actually, I find the idea very interesting that women are interested in KARI as well. If you look at the members of most chatbot forums, including this one, they are allmost all male. So women are interested in chatbots after all, but they are just are not that interested in participating on chatbot forums.

And why would that be? [8]

Please don't mind my last remark, m005kennedy.
I am aware that all those software names are confusing for newcomers.
Happy birthday, by-the-way [:)]

I believe Simone is a desktop mate, isn't she?

All desktop mates are msagents (or Microsoft agents).
All msagents work with Ultra Hal.
Simone will function correctly inside Ultra Hal.

TTS stands for Text-To-Speech.
NeoSpeech voices are TTS voices.
All TTS voices work with Ultra Hal.
NeoSpeech voices work fine with Ultra Hal.

In order for TTS-voices to work on your PC you need to have extra software from Microsoft, called: SAPI. The latest version of SAPI is 5. Older voices still need SAPI 4-software.

Msagents only move their mouth in combination with older voices or SAPI 4 voices.
NeoSpeech voices are newer voices or SAPI 5 voices.
Msagents like Simone won't lip sync while using a NeoSpeech voice.

So, if you have Ultra Hal with Simone and a NeoSpeech voice, then all works fine together, BUT Simone won't move her mouth to say the spoken text. Simone will still make gestures, though.

To have a character inside Ultra Hal that also moves its mouth in combination with a NeoSpeech voice you have to switch to Haptek characters which are included with Ultra Hal as well.

Sir, read my lips: Haptek characters lip sync with NeoSpeech voices.

No, no, I didn't say that msagents don't work with Ultra Hal. I said that msagents are not able to read the spoken words with their mouth (lip synchronization) when you use SAPI5 voices like those from Neospeech.

1. All Microsoft agents work with Ultra Hal.
2. All TTS voices work with Ultra Hal.

Gee, I am sorry to inform you that msagents aren't able to lip sync with the Neospeech voices, because Neospeech uses SAPI5 and msagents only lip sync with SAPI4 voices.

I don't think you need to reinstall Hal in order to make the Neospeech voices work.
